Well, the demons in my head won this round, I tried to fight em off for the past 2 days after ordering up the rear shock, but I just caved today... (http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb336/jaywilcox/swiqe.gif)
Just placed my order for a set of full Ohlins ZX14 front forks with Ohlins Concours 14 spring kit inside em... (http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb336/jaywilcox/sdskja.gif)
They should arrive about the same time as my shock late next week, gonna be a long week of waiting... (http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb336/jaywilcox/wait.gif) (http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb336/jaywilcox/sniwoue.gif)

I know Poke, I really need help...
I've had about 2 dozens bikes and have lost my ass on all of em except one (luckily only had it for about 6 months before the farkle whore came out), so I'm sure you're right and this won't be the last time either I'm sure... :-[
But I sure do enjoy building em up to the top of their potential! :)

Indeed! :P :chugbeer:

You will need some new rotors to match the suspension, may I recomend EBCs? And a set of LSL adapters with the slow black bars of course ;D

If mine warp then I'll definately go that route Chet, but after buying this latest jewelry for her today I think I'm on PB&J for awhile bro... ;)

And a PBR to go with it? ;) Now we know why we saw pics of the pampering the ladies received on your latest vacation, maybe subtle bribery? :o

A little proactive strategy is a good thing right... ;D ;D ;D

If I had your money I'd burn mine. LOL
Nothing better than Ohlins though. And worth every stinkin penny. ;)
-
Awesome! I wish I would have known you could use the zx 14 forks. When I ordered my Ohlins shock, the sales person said "we don't have forks for the connie", so I bought the traxxion cartridges. They are nice, but the Ohlins forks will be even better. Enjoy.
-
What is the price of the Ohlin shocks out the door excluding labor for installation?
Ninja
-
About 2k for the forks and 1k for the shock.

I thought there was something about the ZX14 forks that would not work on a Concours, but not sure what - might be if you have ABS. Worth looking into.

Nope, they mount right up on the Connie JJ, Loren has them on his 09 and said install was easy and they work excellent! They even come with the tapped holes for the ABS sensor as shown in this pic, however Loren doesn't have ABS so left the blank in, I have ABS on mine so will use that for the sensor. 8)

Yeah right, keep on telling yourself that. ;D
Maybe now you can put some miles on it? ;)

Hopefully he won't mind if I post his pics up on this thread...
Do you know if that just applies to the Ohlins, or do the actual ZX14 forks also bolt on a Concours?
Thanks for the information BTW.

It may be that those forks internals are designed for the significantly lighter zx 14 and may not be appropriate for the weight of the connie? They will fit on a c14 no problem.

Ohlins makes internals for the Connie, mine will arrive with those internals already in em, so no issues for me... :)
-
Ohlins makes the most awesome internals, I was taking a guess at what may have been said about not being able to put the zx 14 forks on the connie.
I can't wait to read your impression of the forks. It is a shame you never ride your bike so I may never know....

Not true bro, I do ride her, I just don't do cross country trips like many others... Mulitple bikes in the garage, PNW weather, and alot of travel for work makes me not home as much as most... :-\ :(

Just taking a cheap shot to bust your balls since I am jealous of the gold :hail:

No worries, all good SK... :grouphug: :chugbeer:

The bike rides and handles really well with the Ohlins on the front and rear. The suspension really shines when the road turns a rough or irregular especially in the curves. Certainly not a must have, but it is sure increases the pleasure of riding a really awesome motorbike.
The install is easy breazy. Brakes, fender....etc all are a direct bolt up. The ZX Ohlins forks are about 3/8" longer than the C14 oem forks so the forks are set that much higher in the triple clamps. You can see that in one of the photos ZG posted. The Ohlins C14 springs are installed in the ZX14 Ohlins forks by Kyle Racing.
Now ZG needs a great looking Baldwin Saddle to complete his ride. LOL ;)
-
I am much more interested in that sweet handlebar conversion! :feedback:
