Answer: yes

I wouldn't say it's normal, but it happens, especially on the 10s on up. No one has figured out actually what's causing it.

I just went on a >5000 mile ride with my '10. I noticed it DID NOT come on for the first 1500-2000 miles. Something was wrong. I was terrified. Finally it did and I felt better.
Seems to me this problem is a typical "Kawasaki brand" crude, rough cut, quick design I'm used to with all the Kawasaki products (bikes and jet ski's) I have owned to date. Fortunately every the FI error (and all the other problems occur), the mad pow-ah of KiPass kicks in within milliseconds and offers the solution.

It's a feature of the '10+ models.

I'm pretty sure it's due to radio interference.
When passing near a BTS (Base Telephone Station) particularly powerful (in the countryside usually...) it happened couple of times to me.
No harm though...
Unfortunately we are flooded with radio signals of all possible frequencies: from 50Hz (60Hz in the US) up to microwaves.
The whole spectrum is full! :o
There's plenty of cars not cranking up or gates that suddendly open etc.
It's a wireless world! 8)

If everyone wore tinfoil hats, like me, this wouldn't happen.

Please post a pic!!!
I beg you!!!!!

I haven't heard this theory before. I wonder if there is a way to test that.
I do get the F1 on my '10 every 5,000 miles or so. I just finished a 3,000 mile trip and I saw it once on the trip. Doesn't seem to cause any problem though.

I have 36,000 miles on my bike and it has done it several times. The red light blinks so fast that I usually wonder if I was imagining it, but at "F1 Error" message also comes up on the display briefly. I've never figured out why. Oddly enough, it seems to only do it on long trips, which is odd because my normal Saturday ride is over 300 miles anyway.
