Title: Is this a good price?
Post by: Xelvic on July 02, 2012, 11:31:25 PM
Hey guys, I just joined the forum and hopefully will be a C14 owner soon. I have been looking around for a dealer with a good price. I found a dealer who will sell me a new 2012 with zero miles for 12,800 dollars. He gave me the OTD price (Tax/Title/Lic/Set-up) of 14,800 dollars. My tax rate is 9.1% which comes out to about 1,164 dollars in just tax, so I think it may be a good deal. I don't know if I like the other 800 dollars in fees though. However, overall it may be a good price. What do you guys think? I want this bike so bad I dream about it. Seriously, I actually dream about it!  :)

That's not a bad price. Ask your dealer to break down that $800 for you and see what he's charging for what. Ask him to throw in the GTPP, it can't hurt to ask you know?

Even full price is a value for the C-14. Get what makes you happy whatever the price. Soon there will be someone posting up how he got a C-14 for a bag of peanuts and a bent paper clip.  After all, this IS the interwebs.  ;D

I know, I'm a noob, what is GTPP? I just want to make sure I'm not getting ripped. I got ripped off very bad on my last purchase (for the lack of knowing) from Ride Now Powersports when I bought my 2011 Can am Commander. This time I'm going through a mom and pop store because I swore I would never buy from them again. Just for comparison, Ride Now wanted over 17,000 for a C14...never again!

It's Kawasaki's extended factory warranty. Good Times Protection Package.

You can get an additional 6 years of coverage by buying the GTPP 3 year plan twice.

I'm covered till 2018. (my standard 3 year warranty just expired)

Wow thanks!! That's the best warranty deal I've ever seen! Heck, I figured 3 years standard warranty was already the best, but $319 for an extra 3 years! Awesome!

Your dealer will try to sell the GTPP to you and charge upwards of $500.

A friend of mine paid $800 for a 2 year aftermarket plan!  He almost got sick when I told him that he could have gotten three years for $339 (old price).  He bought the bike on a whim after he rode mine once and didn't call me before he did all the paperwork.

My dealer tried to charge me $650.00 for the GTPP.  I never buy an extended warrenty from the dealer.  I always ask "can I buy the GTPP at a later date"?  Of course the answer is yes you can, but the dealer wants to make the sale and commission.  Usually someone else sells it at a better price. Check out Ultimate Cycle's deal on there GTPP Plan for 319.00

Ha! I would've thought even $800 would have been a good deal for an extra 3 year warranty! This $319 is an smoking deal! I think it's great that Kawi offers a 3 year to begin with. If you think about it, that extra $319 gives you a total of 6 years on a factory warranty. I've never seen a manufacture give that kind of warranty on anything. If I were to use it one time in 6 years it will have paid for itself. Kawi must be very proud of this bike!

Just one more reason why I chose the C14.  Kawasaki realizes that most C14 owners want the most bang for the buck.  What better way to steal sales away from the Roundel crew (besides being substantially cheaper) than to offer nine......NINE years of warranty coverage for a bargain price?  I am just surprised that the nine year deal isn't more highly publicized, there would be riders coming out of the woodwork to get such a great bike with a worry free warranty that spans nearly a decade.

Whoa!! You mean to tell me that this can be extended all the way out to 9 years!! I better go get this bike now. It's the red one they have in stock too, which is what I want. I told myself when I had my last black bike that I would never get that color again. It showed scratches like crazy. I wish I could get it in white like those police/sheriff bikes.

Three years factory warranty.

Three years GTPP for $319

Three more years of GTPP for another $319

Yup, nine years.

Are these warranties transferable? This would be a great selling point if you ever decide to sell it to someone else. Ha Ha, it would be hard to convince a future buyer that your 8 year old bike still had a 1 year factory warranty left on it. That's crazy! Picture this...it's year 2020 and you have your old beat up bike from year 2012 and your trying to sell it. You tell the guy it still has a factory 1 year warranty on it...than you try to dodge the soon to come punch in the face. Priceless.

Yes, the GTPP is transferable. Not bad eh?

Too bad you're wanting a red C14 though, they won't sell GTPP for the red ones.    ;)

If they're still red, that means it came out of the oven too soon, and it's under-done...  ;D

Save some money and look around for a Silver 2011. Mine was $600.00 less than the 2012. More important the Silver one is the fastest of all C14's!

Ha Ha, I do like the black color better. I just don't like what it becomes.  :)

I have used my transferred warranty twice now with no issues.  The previous owner paid through the nose at the dealer where he bought his C14 and when I bought it the dealer didn't even know about the warranty so I felt like I got a screamin' deal when I traded (title for title) in my other bike.
