Went to Mr. Dealerman and test rode a 2011 C14 (they didn't have a '12 on the floor). The first time I twisted that throttle open, I knew I had to have one. Looks like after my hiatus from COG and riding a Connie, I may be coming back into the fold.
Only thing left to decide is Ebony or Candy Arabian Red. I am leaning towards ebony, but still want to see the "red" in person. VFR is now up on craigslist looking for a new home!

I just made the jump from and 08 VFR to an 09 C-14. Loved the VFR for the V4 charachter, but I'm really impressed with this 1400. It's much more comfortable than the Honda as well.

Same thing happened to me 3 years ago. I just love being stupid :chugbeer:

I bought mine without riding it. Went all goo goo eyes and handed the salesman my wallet. Haven't regretted a day. Welcome to the fold.

I'm glad I wear a Full face..Hides the goofy smile on my face everytime I roll on throttle :D

Too funny man! You will look better coming in to Idaho Falls next year on that anyway. 8)

We all it: 'Test Ride'.
They call it: 'Landed another one, hook, line and sinker'. ;D

I just saw mine in a care package from Soldier's Angels in a Motorcycle Rider magazine while I was deployed. It was a 2 page ad that just HOOKED me. I needed to look no further for the bike of my dreams! ;D
I didn't even get to test drive it until 6 months after I bought it (had to get back home).
I had to only drool for 6 months and live on the photos my parents sent me from time to time.

Me, I had never owned anything except American v-twins before my Connie (well, except that old 72 Boniville I owned for a week). I rode my friends FJR and was intrigued, but my big frame didn't fit that well on that bike.
Sat on a used 08 Connie and it was perfect! Never even rode one but knew I had to have one. The price he wanted for the used one was almost the same price a dealership offered me for a new 09. It was still in the crate, and I wrote them a check!!!
Sad to say, the only American made bike I would probably ever own would be a Victory if I were to go that way again.

You and me both Jim. Was first on the list and put $500 down without having even seen one outside a magazine! Happy ever since.

Well, looks like a 2012 is just not in the cards for me. The dealer knows I don't want the "Candy Arabian Red" AKA "The Shiny Turd", and evidently the only dealer in the area with a black 2012 one won't give it up. Black is back ordered and he is saying 6 weeks before he can get one.
So instead, he is going to give me the black 2011 I rode yesterday for $900 UNDER the Costco price. I will miss out on the $250 Costco Cash Card, but I am ok with that!
My understanding is that there is absolutely no difference between 2011 and 2012, correct? Warranty starts from purchase, so still 3 years, and as far as miles the 2011 I rode yesterday only had 2 on the clock before my test ride.
So I am looking at $14250 out the door with tax and license for a black 2011 sold as new with 2 miles. I don't think it can get any better unless I am missing something.
Was hoping to get it today, but I couldn't get off work in time, so it has to wait until tomorrow. I haven't felt this giddy since I was a kid at Christmas!

Ya done good! 2011 or 2012, who cares as long as it is the color you want with the full factory warranty.
Now you have more $cash to spend on farkles:)
-
Sounds like a good result.
Enjoy!!!

Not to be a kill-joy but that sounds high on the price. 2011 C14's can be found for under $12,000 but a lot of it depends on where you live. If you are happy with the price then that is all that matters. Maybe you can have the dealer throw in an extended warranty or service agreement, it can't hurt to ask.

Congrats LR, go black brutha! 8) :chugbeer:

Welcome and congrats! You nght as well get the black, because that new red doesn't count as the fastest color anyway!

Nope, none at all. 2010, 2011, & 2012 are all the same bike. I say get the '11, & save a few bucks if u can.
I had a VFR (03) as well, but ended up keeping it for another 15 months before eventually selling it. After buying my 2010 C14, the 'ol VFR just sat in the garage collecting dust. I do miss it, & was fun to ride, but in all reality I rode my concours a LOT more. I didn't get to ride my concours till I took it home 7 weeks after I ordered it....was the longest 7 weeks of my life ;D
Congrats on the new ride!

I know the feelng..... After trading the VFR for the C-14, i had it a whole week or so and have been on vacation for 16 days..... Excited to return tomorrow.
