Please advise.
I went for a ride yesterday and noticed my fan not kicking in. I was above the half way point , 1 bar from going to the top in some stop and go traffic. I rode down the shoulder of the road to keep bike from reaching the max bars and overheating. The temp dropped to 1 bar below half way or at the half point when the bike was moving. When I got home I let the bike ideal to see if the fan would kick in. I turned the bike off when the fan did not kick in. The gauge was 1 bar from max before I got nervous turned the bike off.
I have called the dealer to have them look at the bike but that won't happen until next Friday. The water level for coolant is good just below max. I check the level this morning when bike was cold.
thanks for any help.

On my bike, the fan(s) don't kick in until one bar below max. There are two of them, not one. You won't see them kicking in until that point. Yesterday I would stop at a light and it would hit one below max for a bit before the fans kick in. If both fans aren't coming on it could be the sensor.
Myself, if I were testing without the benefit of the manual, I'd let it just hit max to make sure they weren't working before I became concerned. Could be a relay, could be a fuse.
You can check the fans by disconnecting them and then applying 12v external power to see if they come on.

Last spring the fuse for my fans popped and the way I found out was that they would not turn on. I would suggest checking the fan fuse. On my bike, I just replaced the fuse, the fans then worked and continue to do so, and I have no idea why it happened. ?? It could have been something stuck between the fan blade and the radiator but there was no damage to the face of the radiator.

Wow, Jim, that seems hot. My fans start cycling at one bar over the half-way mark on my 2009.
-
I have an 09. My fan works pretty much as Jim's, one/two bars below the top.

My fans work correctly, yours do not. ;)
