Title: Brakes Dragging... Normal?
Post by: Gearhead82 on May 22, 2011, 03:18:24 PM
I have a 2 week old '09 non-abs with about 600 miles on it (just did first service yesterday) and I've noticed that the brakes, especially the rear one, make quite a bit of noise anytime the bike is moving. It sounds like the pads are dragging on the rotors. Is this normal/common on these bikes?

There was a recall done on the rear brake to install a "guard" to prevent small rocks or debris from catching in the rear brake pedal causing the brake to drag and eventually, heat up enough to lock up the rear tire.  Check to see if your recall was done.  Also, some have reported even with the recall, debris can possibly still get in there and cause the rear brake to drag.

My front brakes drag.  More specifically my front left caliper.  I have bled the system, have even replaced the caliper but to no avail.  Hopefully, you will find the issue with your rear brake.  Could be debris or possible wasn't bled properly.  If you blead it, remember that there are two bleeds on the rear caliper.

My rear drags more than I thought it should but after looking at other c14's it appears to be normal on this model.

Ok I'll check into the recall and bleed the brakes. Thanks for the responses.

BTW, the recall was for '08 and '09 only.....
