3,700 miles, that's disapointing given the cost of tires, unless you do lots of burnouts prior to your drag-strip runs. I just put on a set or PR3's, hope they last longer.

Tires... I vote YES.  The bike rides so much better when you have tires.

Original stones? I got about 5k out of my OEM stones. Try PR3's!

i get about 4k out of the rear, 6k miles out of the fronts. getting old since the bike has 30k miles and another new set.
i have tried pr2 and 023 stones, on the gt 023 now. i heard from my Michelin rep that the pr3 will not last as long as a pr2 for me ?? not sure
i also run 42psi f&r. at a loss too here. i do like my twisties though.  ;) might run another pr2 or pr3 next swap to compare again.

I value my life way to much to be riding on a tire like that, yeah I wear a helmet to.  Last year I went on the Ramapo 500 which is a 500 mile weekend run and there was an idiot on a c14 with a tire that closely resembles the one you posted and he even had a passenger.  Incredible, even if you don't care abt yourself, if you have a blowout you will most likely wreck the bike!!

I am running the same tire and have been interested in seeing how long these tires will last compared with the Dunlop Roadsmarts.
As a matter of techincal interest, heat, road surface and speed all equate to destroy tires.

From the look of the tire were you riding on dusty, non tarmac roads that are found in certain parts of Europe?

Thanks for the information.
Used to work in both those Countires, great people and food  ;D ;D
That would explain the tire wear with such hot road and ambient conditions.

Have you had any better luck with any other make of tire?

Keep it safe.

I used the Metzler Z3 when I owned a K1200S. This tire was good in heavy rain and dry weather but wasn't dual compound at the time!

Try a set of Dunlop Roadsmarts dual compound on the C14, as I have had good results with that tire on this bike in hot, wet and cold weather.

Some more information regarding the Roadsmarts.

On another bike which is set up with race suspension the Front tire (Dunlop Roadsmart) shows a weird center tread pattern after 4000 miles which I haven't seen on the C14 with stock suspension. The Roadsmarts have not shown this wear pattern on the C14 with 2800 miles ridden on them so far.

Was talking to an old friend this weekend who mechanics for a World Superbike team (he has a broken arm so missed the crappy weather in Monza this weekend) and he says that ambient temperature has a major effect on tyre wear.
Those in warmer climes who ride in 90F+ temps should expect to get up to a third less mileage from a tyre.
So, if those of us in cooler areas are getting 8k miles from a rear PR3, y'all in SoCal/Texas/Fluhrida will probably only get 5k.
If yer getting 5k in Oregon then you really need to SLOW DOWN before you kill yourself.  ;)

I got more miles out of a Shinko Verge than my first PR3.
