Maybe I'm incompetent, but I can't find any write-up here on how to relocate the coolant reservoir. Help me out please? Thanks

the only write up was one I did way back in an issue of the Concourier, but you can get it all here, just read the captions on the pictures....

Thanks. You used the stock hoses?

Does it actually help with the heat? Or is it for running without the lowers on?

Yeah I want to take the lower fairings off for the summer.

I'm so terribly sorry, evidently I forgot about it....but seeing as I did post in it, it seems as if I did read it....once. ;)
Thanks for sharing the reminder.... ;)
You been ok? haven't see you here much this year?
V&P, the answer is Yes, I used the existing hoses, and rubber bumpers from the original mounting bracket, and original tank.
Only expense was the piece of Velcro, which I already had. Just re-route the hoses, they are perfect length to suffice.
Don't be tempted to overfill the tank, if you install it and the radiator is correctly filled, you only need about 1-1/2" of coolant in the tank when it sits vertical.

MOB, will the tool tray fit with the stock coolant bottle installed? Doesn't look like there's much room in Elvin's set-up as it is, and he's using a thinner bottle.

That wasn't Elvin's article, it was done by Jeff Hunter last year. Elvin is the master Librarian of everything we write.... :D
Jeff's setup, using a different bottle, still allowed the tool tray install, but my (COG-Fugalicios) workup doesn't.
No, you kinda loose the tray for the tradeoff. I originated this when I built my '88 COGZilla, and it was a Nekid bike, needing a relo for asthetics.
I ditched the tool tray on that bike, and ran an el-cheapo thinner battery also, but still could carry tools in a roll-up tool pouch on top of the battery.
I aquired multple Roadgear tool bags as prizes over the years at various rallies/rides.
this works and fits well, and shoulsd help:

I never used the tool tray for anything other than a place to house my aux fuseblock on my 86, as I had 2 bags and a trunk to haul the "garage tools" in.... ;)

I mounted my aux fuse block to the fender in the location where you guys have relocated your rad overflow bottles. I recall seeing posted photos a while back showing the overflow bottle located to the left knee area behind or below the tank fairing. A 1 litre oil bottle was used I believe. Anyone able to come up with details on that mod?
