what do you think of my mods, gold wheels, some gold detailing ,blacked ot lower bolts and passenger foot pegs and exhaust pipes. Not very good pics as the sun was not out to day.
-
That looks pretty good!
-
Well i noticed now since I have posted the pics that I should black out the collector underneath the oil pan also.
-
I would never have imagined doing that but it looks great. What kind of grips and what kind of seat do you have? The seat looks like it would be really comfy.
-
Those are the slip on grips from Murphs web site and its a modular Sargent seat with the storage pod on back. The gold colour is actually Eastwood Gold Cadium for Brake Boosters when restoring Older GM cars.Very expensive paint,$25 a spray can but the colour was perfect. Its actually more of a tint then a paint and works perfect over the bright silver Stock wheels. My Old 2008 Hayabusa had the gold wheels also with the dark Blue paint and I figured if I did my Wheels gold I might be able to keep up to the Busa's.LOL
-
I think it looks great ta-kid...Could be the 'anniversery addition'........blanton
-
Bling Bling!!
Nicely done kid. 8)
What bar end weights are those? They seem bigger than stock...
-
Kudos to Murphs again for the bar end wieghts.
-
Do the forks in gold too......
-
Yea Zedhed, I am thinking about it,but I got to be careful how far I go or it may start to l;ook a little tacky.Mind you lots of bikes have the gold forks to match.
-
Time to paint a big ND on the side! Go Irish!
-
some updated pics.Stckers removed.Exhaust collector painted and a shot of how my radar detector is mounted.
-

Powder coat or paint?
-
Totally POSH!!!!!!
-
Thanks for the comments guys. It's always risky doing major colour changes and seeing the end result.

It's possible you have too much spare time. I'm envious. 8)

This made me think of the American Chopper episode recently..your bike has the same color scheme as the Trans Am.

It's funny you say that because I have owned a few old ones,a 71,72,74 and then another 71 and have restored a few also.

Info on the windshield? I really like it!
Gold would not have been my choice, but I have to say, the end result is pretty spiffy!
-
Your bike looks great!!!!!
-
The windshield is the stock one cut down and painted black on the inside surface only with VHT tint. With the shield shorter there is less turbalance around helmet and shoulders for quieter riding in the summer. It also creates some lifting pressure on my chest to take some wieght off my wrists when riding at highway speeds or higher.Ok Back to the Stanley cup bound Canucks.
-
On the Old site i had ask if any body had painted their wheels gold, and all i got was black is the way to go. Your bike really looks good glad to see something different, i'm thincking of going gold or polishing the lips then gloss blk paint in the center of the wheel....
Here's a picture of more or less what i want to do this wheels are from the ZX-14

That's what I thought as I haven't seen any aftermarket ones like that. If it is over 50*F I keep my shield all the way down for the same reason. The shorter shield would be nice.

Those look great!
+1... very cool! 8)
But I've had polished wheels on bikes back in the day and it was a major pain to keep them shined up... :'(
-
Actually polishing the rims and painting the center spokes any colour would look sharp. These wheels will polish by hand quite easily as i have done others just like them.Go for it.

And clearcoat the polished part.....
