I just installed a black set this weekend. It's a nice thick sticker which makes it easy to install. I used some soapy water in a spray bottle and they went on very easy with no bubbles. I pulled my car behind the bike and turned on the lights and they do work but it didn't get as bright as the pic on the website. I'm going to try this again at a different distance and see how it works and i'll let you know. I can tell you this, they work 100 times better than the 2x4 inch sticker that was on the bags when I brought the bike.

Jay, camoflaged silver :yikes:
And FWIW, I have considered this but, well, Silversammit bikes only do this as an assist for the slower black bikes struggling to keep up. I guess I'll order up a set as this Summer I may be riding with some of those ebony beuts :)
-
One more thing, my kit did not come with the long skinny sticker on the outside edge of the bag.

Indeed Chet, I sure hope you're riding with some "ebony beuts" this summer bro... ;D
-
Ok, I just ordered up, low enough cost to try em out I guess... :-\
-
First farkle I did on the bike. Really makes the bike visible at night.
-
Good stuff, goes on nice and easy and looks and works excellent.
-
I've got them on my bike, and I'd say they're worth the money. They blend in nicely during the day and reflect very well at night. I've driven behind a few bikes with these reflective decals, and they make the bike stand out in hours of darkness.
-
I use them as well...
-
Got'em on my bike too. I ride in to work in the morning when it's still dark. I've had coworkers that have been behind me coment on them on how much more visible I am on the road. Here's a daytime vs nighttime comparison.

I put a set of these on over the weekend, ordered them when I ordered a radiator guard from PCA. I wasn't real happy with the install, the squareish decal was very difficult to line up, and ended up having a section that had to slightly wrap around the curved edge, so it didn't want to stick down. Now that it's dried it's ok, but I was about to toss my saddlebags over the roof while trying to get it on right! Haven't shined any headlights on it at night yet to see how it looks.
-
mine should be in soon. I heard soapy water for the install? So they can slide around and get lined up right?
-
the ones from PCA and Real time are not the same
-
Have some on the all black FJR and they are sweet. Stick out at nite for sure.
-
I went with reflective tape instead of the panels. I was able to pick and choose where the tape went and install it so it followed the lines of the bike, you can see some of the tape here:
and

and
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v612/SVonhof/moto/IMAG0697.jpg)
If I had the large panels like you guys are talking about, the visibility might be slightly higher, but I went with different colors and angles of tape to help it stand out. It helped that I already had the tape so I didn't need to buy anything.
-
I only like the black to reflective, but that does look pretty good all things considered. I used the realtime kit, so I can't speak as to the quality of other similar kits.
-
The realtime kit got in. It would seem a wet install would be easier. But it sais not to do this on the non painted surface... Did everyone put theirs on dry?
-
put mine on dry
-
I've got the Realtime Industries version and applied them dry. There was no mention of a wet procedure in the instructions with mine. Besides they're "self-adhesive". ;)
-
I put mine on last night. gently laying them on the surface allowed me some gentle adjusting before pressing it down. Creepy cool material. Completely black in normal lighting but turn the lights down and it shines the light brightly back at the source. Pictures always look the brightest because the flash is right next to the sensor.
I have found that the distance between the light source and my eyeball greatly effects the return. I am looking forward to parking it down the driveway and pointing my car at it though.
-
These are great, even had a HD rider pull up one night and commment on how visible the bike was.
-
Arrived today! :)
Install was very easy, I installed them dry, no need to do a wet install and worry about bubbles, these are very thick and on the textured plastics where they stick bubbles wont happen, just rub them down with your thumb.
Here's some pics...

And just think of the night time speed he picked up ;D

Yeah, that silver reflection really helps :)
I am considering doing this too, except I would not put on the sides, since that would cover my silver paint. Too bad they don't sell a "just rear rectangles" set.
-
Install was very easy, I installed them

I think that I'm going to have to order me some of these now.
-
The panels look big enough you could cut an insignia or personal message in them.
-
I contacted them and asked if I could just get the rear rectangles, since I don't want to cover the paint nor top. They said yes and I am waiting for more info to come tomorrow. So far, having a very positive experience.

I must be missing something, where do these cover the paint?

Hey ZG,
Since they're silver (at least when reflecting), do they make your bike faster? ;)

At this point, with SO much black on his bike, the increased in speed from a small amount of silver will be hard to notice.
-
Maybe between the black and the silver it'll set up a vibratory oscillation and cause it to warp to another dimension.

I believe a warp drive is the next farkle on ZG's list. :stirpot:

Hmmm, that could help. Dilithium crystals are kinda silverish.
The problem. as Gary pointed out, with all that black, a vibratory oscillation could show up in these crystals and the result of that could be a disaster.

I put them on my bike shortly after I got it. People driving behind me at night tell me I am lit up like a christmas tree. During the day you can hardly notice them.

The silver 11's have that textured plastic section on the side bags at the bottom 2" paint matched to the bike.
-

The entire front half of the bags are painted. The stock decal set includes a triangle on the rear and a piece that runs along the base of the bags- those both would be covering painted sections.
The rectangle on the rear and the piece that fits up the top rear of the bag cover plain black plastic.

Ah, I see the confusion. It appears to be another undocumented change in the 2nd gen C-14. ALL 2010+ Concours 14's have fully painted lids on the baggage. There are no black/unpainted areas on the bottom.

Hey- I have been staring at pictures for quite a while now, too, and I didn't notice until this issue just came up :)

The bottom part of my 2010 is black under the reflective tape, not painted.

My 2010 has it as well. Looking at some Google images of the 2012's, it appears they have the strip, but it's color-matched.

And you have a dark blue bike? Wow, this is confusing. I simply don't know what the rules are for this, now.
-
Yup, my blue 2010 is color matched as well but it is not overly noticeable with the texture. The real time stripes look fine.

Wait, you just contradicted what Rhino and Wipfel said, earlier.
So some blue 2010's have fully painted lids and some have partially painted lids??? That, I find hard to believe.

I find it hard to believe too soooo, I just went and pulled the bag off and looked at the bottom of the lid (since the sides are covered by the reflectors) and the outer lid is all blue. ;)

I'm confused now as well. I'm not home at the moment so I can't go look but I'm pretty sure only the hinged part is painted blue. The rest is black plastic. I am absolutely certain I did not put the reflective stick-on's over paint.

Day and night. So silverdammit, good for at least a bottle of Coors Light 8)
Thanks again Jay.

My 2010 bags are built exactly like yours except the lids are painted in the faster blue color.

Thats OK, the bike has been quickened vastly with the simple application of silver, by at least the same factor of pulling the flies, adding a full system, and PCV. If you want quicker you'll need a turbo to keep up with silverdammit ;D

Alex at realtimeindustries sent me an Email today with details to buy just the rectangles I want for the rear!
Also, he asked me to share the photo below for another design they are offering.
"Also, I designed a new version of the kit with the K logo and GTR outline on the rear bags. Would you be able to post that out to the forum and see if anyone would like a set for their bike that would be willing to take some pictures for me to put on realtimeindustries.com?"

The big K ain't too bad if you like that sortta thing. I'm not really with it personally. Now if they had one with the mud flap girl, I'd be all over that. ;)

If they could do that big K so that you can't see it during the day but it reflected Kawasaki green, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the heads up Max. Alex is hookin me up with a set of the logos so I (my bike) can be the poster child for them.

Any print shop that does vinyl graphics should be able to cut any design you want into the sheet stock.
-
it would be cool if they can do words that would show up at night like (too close back up) for cars being too close, or (can you see me), or if your a good husband you can have your name on one bag and your wife on the other one, but if you want to be rude, you can have rude words on it lol
-
Or just the words, BLACK IS (on left bag) THE FASTEST (on right bag) :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Sorry, I forgot to follow up on my posting!
Took quite a while to get the rear decals, but they came. I cleaned the back of the bags with alcohol and the decals were easy to apply and both applied without bubbles. It has been a while now, and I forget they are on there because they blend well.
The angle of reflection is very narrow. This means to get reflected light, the light source and the person's eyes have to be rather close together. And this is distance-dependent. So when a vehicle closer to the bike (like 10 to 30 feet) the angle light source and the drivers eyes is large and there is little to no reflection. The further back the vehicle is, the more light is reflected back. This might seem counter-intuitive to people testing the effectiveness of the decals, but that is how it works!
It is another inexpensive and easy safety mod that I do recommend.
