Cams are looking perfect, no pitting, nothing nasty at all. :thumbs:
Just did some roll-ons with Canadian Steve when he was down here. His '99 has the power SiSF cams. We were pretty much dead even until about 9k rpm.

I just did my 20k mile valve check, the SiSF Torque cams are looking perfect. :thumbs: :hail: :chugbeer:

Yup. somewhere around 9-9500 rpm I tail off. Definitely not on "on cam" at 10 grand

I have the Power Cams too. I wondered how the 2 cams would compare.
I know jetting weight etc effect things.
The idea of the Power cams was the same torque as the Torque Cams plus a bit more on top.
Sounds like they did exactly s Steve said they would. (Again)
Have you done Roll On's with a similarly jetted bike that has stock cams?

I have the Power Cams and I took my C10 on the race track. I revved the engine out until it stopped pulling and I looked down at the tac- I was somewhere in the 10.5 to 11 range. Pulled hard all the way to some type of rev limiter or floated the valves.-

Mike/Steve, mine has the Power cam and Steve's Cam Gear. Was the Cam gear installed on yours too?
I know he was trying different arrangements as he was developing that cam.
SiSF, your input, if you recall. Is Mike's the same as mine?
11K sounds high for it to still be pulling. Amazing,,,
In one of my more energetic rides, (I think I was behind you in Arkansas) I too hit that (too high) point in the RPM's.
When it did it's thing I thought I had blown the motor up.
Is there a rev limiter on the Connie?

Ted, I've run mine head to head with Canadian Steve's(honourary Florida Steve) '99. I'm quite sure he has the 2mm, and he has the power cams. We are dead even until we get to about 8500rpm, then he starts easing away from me, getting a bigger spread more quickly as the revs climb above.

I think the point of the previous posts is that the torque cam do indeed make alot more torque, but the bike isn't neutered on the top end so you can still have some fun. Honestly the cams are like having an electric engine, it just pulls all the time, no matter the rpm. Steve

Yes, there is definitely a point in getting Steve's torque Cams!
The Torque Cams will outperform stock cams hands down!
The Torque cams were deveoped to increase low end power and improve driveability.
Low end performance gain is SIGNIFICANT.
What got this discussion going is the fact that someone did a roll on of Torque Cams vs Power Cams.
It was the first time I had heard of a Roll on between the 2, so I asked my questions.
Was impressed that the Torque Cam did so well vs the Power Cams.
NOTE: Steve doesn't offer the Power Cams. (He did a very few as a research project).
They were ground similar to the Torque Cams but used ZX1000 Cams as the initial Cam Blank and required a modified Cam Gear.
Unfortunately there are not enough ZX1000 Cams available to do bulk grinds. Which means, Cost is too high.

correct Ted, cost is higher on the power cams, and the high lift COULD be rough on the valve train, though I've not seen that yet. The torque cams are very gentle to the valvetrain and extend valve adjustment intervals, so I'm sure most folks would prefer those anyway. Steve

I wasn't questioning whether they were any good, I didn't realize the "power" cams weren't readily available. I was wondering why I would get "toruqe" cams when they were so close to "power" cams. I'd love to get a set of the cams, but funding is an issue at the moment.

Understood.
The Power Cams are just too hard for Steve to build (due to not enough ZX Cams to use as donors), and because of the abrupt ramp angle, they may hurt an engine.
When you get the Torque Cams you will be impressed.
