Title: New farkle arrived and installed - braided brake & clutch lines!
Post by: ZG on March 30, 2012, 03:43:44 PM
Well my new braided front & rear brake & clutch lines arrived yesterday and are being installed today, just in time for my big bday!  :)

I went with smoke colored braided lines with black banjo's and banjo bolts.  8)

Also Phil (aka Phils Farkles) was kind enough to make me some custom mounting blocks for where the front lines attach to the upper triple clamp, excellent fit and look awesome!!  :hail:

I swang by my local shop at lunch to check out the install progress, everything is on and installed but I guess they need to sit with pressure applied for like 3 or 4 hours, plus it's pouring rain here so I'll just wait to pick up my Connie until tomorrow and hopefully find a gap in the rain showers...  :-\

WOW ZG, what are you going to do once you run out of things to "farkle"? :)

I had a similar addiction with my last bike trying to make it a show-like cruiser with aftermarket modifications and chrome. Luckily I kept the original accessories to return it to stock because when I sold the bike, I actually made more money selling the farkles outright than I made selling the bike. The amount I spent on the cruiser, I could have literally purchased a 2nd or 3rd bike.

Farkling is a fun and very addictive, but I've vowed not to go overboard on the Connie.

Anyways, keep farkling away because it doesn't look like this rain will stop until August...

Sorry to disappoint you MOB, but I do know my limits, I would have totally screwed this install up...  :(

I'm ok with paying somebody to do it right...  :)

I love riding bikes, but don't like working on em. I'd rather go see a movie and have some lunch or play a round of golf and come back to having my bike ready to go!  ;) ;D

Finally, something that matches, black and brakes, both designed to slow things down ;D

BTW, they do look slick :)

Rear brake... It's tough to tell from the pics but the smoke colored lines are actually almost an exact match to the carbon fiber exhaust in the sunlight...

that looks sweeeeeet! too bad the camera blew off the white balance in the last 2 pics, but still... fantastic, ZG!

BTW, I do like working on the bike, but some times and for some things I prefer to watch a movie instead while some professional does it right.

Wow, Z, you sure have some $ tied up in that Connie! Cool brake lines and your other stuff looks great too.

I just put Murphs' Risers on today, with the RAM ball option and got my Zumo 550 mounted and wired up. Still waiting on the GPS mount I ordered with the bike and the trunk; the GPS mount I ordered is going to be used for my GXM30 XM Sat-Rad antenna. If I ever get it! :) I have a bracket which currently lives on my DR650 that's gonna articulate with the mount I bought (I hope) to affix the XM antenna. At least, that's the plan.

The risers are nice, haven't rode it yet (tomorrow, I'll take the bike to work again, weather permitting and try it). Your risers look very cool. The Murphs' are definitely higher than the stock height. With the handlebars turned lock to lock, the brake/clutch reservoirs come really close to the windscreen when in the fully down position (which I don't use when I ride, it's fully up).
