Title: My GPS Setup
Post by: Jack Daniels on March 25, 2012, 02:25:34 PM
Did this last week before my Peaks of Otter trip.  It's a Garmin Nuvi 40LM.  I modified the bracket and attached it to the plastic left of the speedo.  Works great.  Yeah, it's off to the left and somewhat blocked by the clutch reservoir but that doesn't bother me at all.   I was surprised that..  #1 I can hear it and #2 it works with my warm weather riding gloves on.

I had mine mounted with a home made bracket to the bolts for front brake reservoir and then I bought a bracket from ProjektD

A better picture of the first mount is here on my Gold Wing.

Yeah, I thought about going with a handlebar center mount, especially since I just got a set of Murph's risers.  I installed the risers this afternoon and was worried about the handlebars blocking the view of the GPS even more.  That's not the case.  I'm pretty happy with the setup.  :)

+1 for the Techmount.
So what do you guys think of this proposal?  I voted NO!

I installed my TomTom GPS with the Ram Ball Mount ($30) from Murphs that is designed to be attached to Murphs KB Risers, which I have on my bike. Ram Ball, Ram Mount Arm and Cradle (total cost including shipping $31.84) from ExpressMounts and I was good to go. Easy install, 15-20 minutes.

Both Murphs and ExpressMounts were excellent with delivery -  ordered on Monday, received on Wednesday.
