Title: Center stand removal?
Post by: Cuda on March 13, 2012, 08:17:23 PM: Has anyone removed the center stand? I'll be installing a dual zx exhaust on my concours and I heard it gets in the way, I don't see why I need it, so I may as well lose it.
Anything I need to know?

Also do I need to install new gaskets with the ZX headers or reuse the stock ones.

Post by: lather on March 13, 2012, 08:48:27 PM: You may need to know it is inconvenient to change tires and to do general maintenance on a 700 lb bike with only a side stand. I hate it with my 400 lbs SV650.

I am sure there are lifts for front and rear. I have them for my SV but they are difficult to use without a helper. I have a big dent in the SV tank to prove it. :'(

My guess is the ZX guys that ride a lot of miles have aftermarket center stands.

If I had a lot more money or rode a lot less miles I could live without a center stand.

The ZX14 can use a swing arm stand, the Connie can't... :(

Post by: muguvian on March 14, 2012, 11:41:17 AM: I removed mine when I put on the dual exhaust. When I change tires or wash it I'll put it back on minus the nuts and spring, takes about 3 min.

Yes, you will need new gaskets. They're the same gaskets the ZX-14 uses so I had no problem finding them in stock locally.

Ha ha, Its a pack, box, carton or 'carry out' of beer. Bottles or cans, usualy 12 - 24 of the little beauties in each.
