I noticed my 08 has cracks in both mirror mounts, hard to see unless you rotate the mirror out. Anyone else have this issue? The mirrors have never been subjected to any force other than 120 mph wind turbulence.
-
I'll take a peak at mine. But at last look no.
-
I recall seeing posts similar to yours before the new forum got started. I believe it was only an 08 - 09 issue.
-
The prior issue (I believe) was that the mirror(s) bracket(s) were improperly seated before the hdwr was tightened up. Which caused a crack in the mirror bracket that was located where it mated to the bike. This looks like a different issue. Take it in to your dealer to see if it's covered under warranty.
-
The pictures are so close in that I can't determine where those cracks are. I checked my external mounts and did not see any cracks.
-
My right mirror looks exactly like that. My only drop was on the left side, so I'm not sure what caused it. It hasn't caused any looseness in the mirror so I wasn't too worried about it. I figured the dealer would assume I dropped it and not cover it. :-\

Here's another picture.
Cracks are on both left and right mirrors, pictures are taken directly from above. I flipped the mirror out so you can see it better--you have to look behind the mirror or flip it out to see it.

Just checked the 09 C14, no problem here.

Thanks, that's where I thought they were but wanted to make sure. No problems with mine.

If the dealer tries to deny a warranty claim saying you may have dropped the bike, point out that the crack is on top. If anything, it looks like someone would have to push down on the top side of the mirrors to do that.
Either way, body work has been covered before by warranty, so that's where I would start. Good luck.

i do not have the problem, but YES, there were reports of a few cases of this exact same instance on 08, and I believe early 09 bikes.
They were completely repaired thru warranty at the time of thier reports,If you have warranty GTPP I suggest getting them to replace these, it is not a result of abuse, it's a flaw in the moulded plastic internally, and has been documented.

Checked my 2008 and found no cracks.
-
No cracks to report on mine. Unless they're about invisible.

That would be a near invisible crackpot. ;)

Good point, the cracks would be on bottom. To the dealer I go.

both my 08s are cracked

Has anyone had their cracked mirrors replaced un warranty. My dealer just informed me that Kawasaki rejected my claim for both my cracked mirrors. Needless to say Im not real pleased with Kawasaki at this point.

Kawasaki customer service number (949)-770-0400 then 1, then 5 and then give them an ear full....

I'm surprised that they wouldn't replace your mirrors. My right mirror was replaced under warranty because the mirror glass was lose and vibrated a bit. I even got to keep the old mirror.

IT IS AN ISSUE WITH 2008's, I had both my 08's mirrors replaced with cracks, the reason they crack is the person (mechanic) that built it up from the crate tightened up the mirrors UNEVEN causing the crack issue.
Ive seen several 08's with the same issue, doesnt happen straight away, takes a few months to appear.
My 09 is fine (1st thing I checked).

Im looking for a number or contact with Kawasaki that I can speak with directly. Like I stated my dealer stated Kawasaki denied my

Try this one.... 949-460-5688. That's their consumer service number. They should be able to point you in the right direction. The number I gave you was given to us some years back and may have changed. Please let us know how you make out with this.

Update on mirror warrenty. I got ahold of Kaw customer servive a few days ago and they said that the claim stated the bike must have been tied down improperly. So today I went back to the dealer and told them what the Kaw rep had stated. The dealer rep said he never made that comment and dont know where that came from. So I call the Kaw customer service number whle I was at the dealer to get us all on the same page because I wasnt taking no for an answer. I could see no good reason why I should be responsible for these mirrors cracking under normall use. After some time Kaw agreed to replace the Mirrors.

While I was getting my recall work done, I showed the dealer my right cracked mirror. I explained that I never dropped it and the crack had been there from early on. He said he would call momma kawa and get back with me. A week later he called and said they hadn't had a lot of calls on the mirrors (I had explained the theory of improper installation), but they said they would warranty it anyway! Couldn't believe it!

Mark at Kawa must be on vacation.
