Hey guys,
I need some help determining the value of my 08' C-14 non-ABS. It's in decent shape, no major damage, but also nothing special. Flies removed, -6" off the bazooka, blacked out windshield, otherwise stock. 16k miles on the odo.
My wife and I are getting a divorce and I need to buy her out so I don't have to sell it. I checked NADA guide and it says anywhere from $6500 to $8500. That seems pretty optimistic to me, especially during winter in SE WYO. I tried to sell it a year and a half ago for $6500 and got zero interest.
Thanks for any input.

I've been shopping around for a while and found a 2008 with aftermarket shield, Kawasaki trunk, cee-baily headlight protector, stock exhaust, non-ABS with 5,500 miles, and I think the tires either have a few thousand left on them or they are newer. I haven't seen the bike in person though, it looks clean. $7,900 at one time, been for sale since Nov. I think now the price is advertises at $8500.

Can you elaborate on "no major damage"? If that was in your ad it would alarm me. (http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb336/jaywilcox/smiley_dunno.gif)

Normal wear and tear. Outer edge of mirrors are scratched, boot scuffs on the bags, one stoplight tip over (no breakage, just small scuff on lower fairing), rock chips, etc...

I would keep it for sure, you need some kind of therapy.......just sayin.

Absolutely! I'm not letting it go, I just need to come up with a reasonable value.

Ask the soon to be ex how much she'll give you for it, to buy it from you. Maybe that would make your case on value. Or it would be enough to go buy another. Hopefully it would just get her to realize what you can really get for it.
Unfortunately in cases like this, NADA or Edmunds are usually the reference of choice, not reality, and I doubt either will help your position.

Sorry about your situation, a tough time to be in. I bought an 08 non-ABS with a new Kawi tall windscreen, similar issues on wear and tear, a new front tire but other than that, stock. I bought it last May (best time to sell) with 4700 miles on her and paid $6500. I live in Wisconsin so our riding seasons are similar. You can argue toys are only worth what time you can play on them. Best of luck in the future.

Although NADA and Kelley Blue Book (KBB) may not reflect reality, they are the industry standards. NADA rough tradein on a 2008 non-abs is $6510 and KBB is $5980, splitting the difference is $6245. This is what you should get from a "reasonable dealer" on tradein, maybe a little more if you sold it yourself.
The KBB values are available online (goggle KBB), and the NADA appraisal values are available at your local library

I bought my 08 non ABS, with Power Commander, bar risers, Two Brothers pipe, and 1500 miles on it, for $7000, about 14 months ago.
This 09 just sold on Ebay:
