Title: Modified Passenger Pegs
Post by: 556ALPHA on December 21, 2011, 01:28:39 PM
I had the MFW Vario Passenger pegs on the rear and decided to modify them.  My wife was spoiled by the cruisers and large touring bikes that I have previously owned so I came up with a compromise.  I found another forum in which full floor boards were added and while they were the most functional the style was not what I was looking for.  Here is what I came up with, I will post a ride assessment when the weather allows.

Nice.  Where did you get floor boards?

Hey Alfa,
Where did you get the pegs and, do they fit without any mods? I already have the lowering peg brackets from ProjektD. I like the look and want to change out for additional passenger comfort.

I started with this setup:

http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=1944.msg21736#msg21736 (http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=1944.msg21736#msg21736)

I ordered these two items:
http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/4172/Gloss-Black-Footpeg-Mount (http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/4172/Gloss-Black-Footpeg-Mount)
http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/4162/Gloss-Black-ISO-Pegs-without-Male-mounts (http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/4162/Gloss-Black-ISO-Pegs-without-Male-mounts)

I drilled the arms out on the original Vario setup and installed the Kury parts.  If you are interested PM me and I will give you the Kury suppliers info, they were cheaper and shipped in a day or two.

I had the ISO-Wings on my cruiser, and loved them.  I also had them mounted 'backwards', as you've done.  But mounted that way, my heals would catch on the trailing edge of the rubber pieces, and they started pulling off the pegs within a couple months.  I popped all the rubber pieces off, ran a bead of silicon adhesive under each, stuck 'em back on and never had another issue.

Great info, Thanks.

The seat is a Rick Mayer.

Finally got around to taking a test ride and my wife is VERY happy with the outcome.  If you are not interested in using lowering arms like I did Kuryakyn sells a peg adapter that will mount directly to the C14 (http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/3804/Peg-Adapters-for-Sport-Bikes (http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/3804/Peg-Adapters-for-Sport-Bikes)) and then any peg with the female mount will  work such as this(http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/4173/Gloss-Black-ISO-Pegs-with-Male-Mount (http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/4173/Gloss-Black-ISO-Pegs-with-Male-Mount)) or this(http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/4162/Gloss-Black-ISO-Pegs-without-Male-mounts (http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/4162/Gloss-Black-ISO-Pegs-without-Male-mounts)).

Going without the lowering arms would only be about 120.00 total.
