Title: Raising your air hand wings coverage a bit for free...
Post by: ZG on November 26, 2011, 05:34:46 PM
Simple solution that I just came across, if you're running risers and wedges and want to raise the height of wind blockage of your air hand wing's a bit just put the small spacer on the top and the longer spacer on the bottom (opposite of how the instructions tell ya), it will still clear the dash plastic and shield no problem. It totally changes the angle of the mounting bracket which raises em up, it also put's them more in line with the angle of your windscreen for a more blended look. It works great, I just took mine out for a rip, can't believe I didn't think of this before, and free is a good price to try it...

If you are born once you will die twice
If you are born twice you will die once

Can you please explain what this means Joe?

Sorry to ignore the subject but this is a question that begs an answer.  I assume others would also like to know but are too polite to ask.

I like one of our members response to Joe's tag line.

Yep, I have an 09.

Will swapping the spacers not work on a 10+? Or do they not have spacers?

The spacers on my Motax deflectors are both the same size ZG.

Good point C, the ProjektD ones have a short and a long spacer.

You could get some shorter spacers for the top from your local hardware store, the concept should be the same for the Motax ones and will change the angle of the mounting point to raise the wing protection zone.

IF I was to need it, I would have to go with longer spacers Z. Any shorter and the mounting bracket from the Motax deflectors would be hitting the bike's plastic.

Mine are perfect the way they are anyways. I don't have any risers or wedges nor do I need/want them.

Yep, this is true, shorter on top or longer on bottom will have the same effect to change the angle.
