Does anyone know of a way to take off the stem bolt handlebar caps so they can be used again. I'm getting some risers and wanted to re-use the caps after I install the risers. I see pics of installs of the new risers but never see where the caps are replaced.
Thanks

Dental pick seems to work the best but do not know about re-use since they are a force fit into the head of the socket head cap screw.... If you buy Murph's risers they come with new caps, don't know if that helps....

I think you should be able to re-use the dental pick after doing that with it. Of course if you are a dentist you might want to sterilize the pick before the next use.... otherwise back into the tool box.

Yep... I'll have to ask my dentist if he's used them on his bikes.

You have caps? I don't have caps.

Me either. :-\

If not, ask him if you can use one of HIS picks on YOUR bike.

:) Great replys...I'm getting the murph's wedges...if those aren't enough I'm getting the risers. 2011 has caps.

Caps? Caps? I don't need no steenking caps.

My 2011 had caps, until I put on the Murph's wedges (get them, they're a must have). Now the heads are just enough off-center to prevent cap re-use. :'(

I'll have to ask my mechanic if he's used them in his mouth! ;)

My dentist does caps as well....kinda pricey, though.

Good Day,
Old post and I'm not sure my procedure has been covered elsewhere but what I did to remove the handle bar bolt caps was to heat up the plastic cap with a heat gun, a hair dryer would probably do the with same, then using Gorilla Tape stick it to the top of the cap then pull. it takes a bit of patience to get the tape fully secured around the edges of the cap but it works.
