Title: My new marker lights part 2
Post by: F-106 on October 30, 2011, 09:16:42 PM
Got the lights installed today. Took most of the day but they look good and vary bright. I switched them so during the summer I can run with them off. All totaled 30 bucks for lights and all the items needed.

Why do you think you need to be less visible in the summer?

They look good, by the way.

Due to the fact we get 15 hours of daylight here I do not think they would make much differance. Thats just me. In the summer I think my white helmet and yellow vest would make me be seen before the lights would. Granted I would run them after the sun goes down if I am riding after dark.

That does look good and would aid visibility at night.
During the day - it feels like no matter what you do same pratt will not see you!

Looks great! It's also a bit unnerving how spotless that garage is, or is that just a photo backdrop?

Man your bike looks good!

I have a similar set up on my bike.  (My lights are oval instead of square)
Did buddies bike as well.

What we discovered is that they make the bike stand out when viewed from the front a LOT!

Do your have 2 filaments in your lights?
Mine do and the second is hooked to my blinkers.

Ride safe, Ted

No Ted they are just running lights. Did not give it to much thought at the time. However that it not a bad idea. My biggest concern was getting the bike noticed from the side at night. The lights are so bright I got stopped my a CHP motor officer. He asked me were i got them. He told me he was looking to add marker lights to his CHP BMW. THANKS FOR THE COMMENT ON MY BIKE.

What kind of lights are they and where did you get them?

Don't stop there, the rear is also a great place for additional lighting. I had the brake light upgrade from Electronic connection, the circulkar ring that fits ove the blinker bulbs. They run red as improved running, and then blast bright red on braking. They turn signal cancels out the brake light on the side it is activated. I also added a strobe light that flashes during braking in the middle of my Givi trunk. I get lots of compliments on the rear visibility from the lights, and also the reflective tape on the backs of the saddlebags.
Bike looks good, keep it up.
Ride safe all, and please ATGATT.

Here is a pic of the brake lights on the blinkers and trunk.  For some reason the red reflectors are showing up yellow, but this is how they all look together. I did darken the pic due to it being pretty bright.
RSA.
