Does anyone know the best way to lube the throttle cable? I am not sure when, if ever has this been done on my bike since I bought it used. Any idea of how difficult a procedure this is?

Pretty rare that anyone still does this today; the cables are lined with a teflon or nylon base and really don't need any lube.

This is true. There are special tools to do it (pressure cable luber) you can use WD-40 with the straw. More than likely though, what you really need to do is remove the throttle, and scotch brite the actual bar that the throttle sleeve rotates around. Also, the return spring cable is routed funny though the switch housing on that side. Lube that maybe?

You may be right, but my Connie is a 95 and I am not sure if the PO ever lubed the cables or if he ever changed the cables for the new ones. Not sure if I should lube the cables or change them. I'm at a predicament.

I may not have been clear my point was that these cables really do not need lubing unless they are dragging badly and you need to free them up until replacements can be found; lubing cables is a thing of the past from our days of youth on dirt-bikes.

My 2003 has instructions for lubing the cables in the OMan.

Yeah, the PO told me he didn't have it, but when I took the seat off to clean and inspect my *new* bike, I found it wedged up under the rear cowling, in a plastic bag from the Jurassic era.

In fact if the cables are Teflon lined lubing them degrades the lining.
