Title: Neutral indicator question
Post by: neo02blue on September 24, 2011, 06:32:47 PM
Hi just picked up a 2008 Concours and was wondering if there is normal.
When I shift from 1st to 2nd at different RPMs the neutral light comes on for a moment them goes out.
The light also comes on for a moment when down shifting from 2nd to 1st. Have not seen this on other Kawasaki bikes I have owned. ???

Normal for mine when I am lazy with either of those two shifts.  If I preload the shifter and shift quickly I don't see the flash.

What he said. That's how mine acts too.

If it didn't do that there would be something wrong with it.

More noticeable during night riding. Mine does it both up and down 1st-2nd

Don't look to hard, you got to keep your eyes up and open for those silent, sneaky hybrids out there in Cali.  Keep your head on a swivel!   ;)

+1
I can give you a litany of all the bikes that I've driven, and all of them do it. I'm actually surprised at your statement that other Kawi's didn't. Could you name one? I had a 440 Ltd ('81) and it did it just like my '08 C14. Now you made me curious!  :o

Thanks for all the replies. The bikes that I have owned were a 82 GPZ550, 84 Ninja 900R, 97 ZX 11 and my last bike was a 2003 Kawasaki Concours. I think all bikes had the neutral finder but I have never noticed the light  coming on between 1st and second shifting. PS I forgot the 750 GPZ but cant remember the year. Anyway just love this bike had a good ride to the Oyster Run in Anacortes Washington on Sunday.
