I remember a good thread (with pics) about how to locate and remove the (correct) ECU. I'd like to send it in to Dynotronics for reflash and wish to do it quickly and easily. Does anybody have that post to share? TIA
-
I can give you a verbal but photos will have to wait until tomorrow-
Remove the seat, then the toolbox (four screws, it is very easy). The ECU (the ECU that you want to reflash) is behind the toolbox, just under the shelf at the back of the saddle compartment. Remove one battery terminal before pulling the ECU to cut power before unplugging the ECU. The ECU will pull pretty easily toward the front of the bike and there will be two electrical connectors that plug into the bike's wiring harness. There is nothing other than a form- fitted rubber strap holding the ECU in place.

... I'd like to send it in to Dynotronics for reflash...
Make sure we get a solid write-up after the reflash. Don't need the butt dyno results, want the real story!

Butt dynos are always optomistic....give us hard data!

There are two units, one with three plugins and one that has two plugins. I only need to send the one with two plugins correct?

You know, there are so many ways I could go with this but I've just had a beer and I'm in my mellow place at the moment.

Thanks Conrad, there are two units though. Do I ship both of them for the reflash?

I saw that picture right after I posted :)
The correct one is what Brian said, the unit with two plugs.
