Title: Time for a shave? Decal removal
Post by: Beamer on September 16, 2011, 06:32:08 AM
I was wondering if anyone might have a pic of a C14 with the Kawasaki logo's removed? Thinking about doing it on mine

My bike was maybe 2 days old when I took those horrid looking Kawa letters off the bike.  I think the lettering looks better on the '10-'11 bikes compared to my '09, but I still would prefer the clean look.  I just used a hair dryer to heat them up a little and then pulled them off with my fingers/fingernails.  Used some rubbing alcohol to remove the leftover adhesive afterwards.

Thank you sir. I wanted to verify they were just adhesive.

A easy trick I have used before is to use fishing line and you just "saw" your way thru the adhesive when removing logos and emblems.

One of the first things I did when I got my bike.

Hey, nice BMW!

I hear that all the time and I didn't even take my emblems off.

Why not go all the way and remove the Concours lettering as well?

Same question, why leave the Concours lettering?

Not as garrish as the fairing logo.

I just peeled mine off tonight.

Man, what a difference in looks.  Much cleaner.

I bought my 2009 from a previous owner who had removed all the stickers.  I think it looks much better now :-)

I can understand that.  Here is mine in current trim.  I have been debating removing the stickers and letters for a while now.

Is that a VStream windshield?  Do you have any pics handy with the shield lowered?

It is a Rick Mayer.  I would say it is better than a Spencer Modded seat but not by too much considering the cost differential.   I would probably buy a Baldwin if doing it all over based on what others have said.

I'm surprised how much better your bikes look with the decals removed!

I did the same this weekend. It's interesting that the letters are kind of a rubbery material. I tried a couple of things to remove the adhesive. The thing I found that worked the best is this stuff called "Goo Gone"

I've found WD-40 to be the cheapest/easiest goo remover out there.

That googone can take more than the goo off sometimes.
