Well as usual some mods seem to never end. I have been modding my handlebar setup off and on for the past 5 years looking for the perfect rding position. Being raised on Ninja type bikes (crotch rockets) I have had my fill of leaning forward, but the back and arms have been done with that for quite some time. I began several years ago with a set of GenMar risers. Then I added a second set of risers. Then I got a KB adaptor setup for 7/8" standard handlebars and added that to my two sets of Genmars. The other week I got a set of setback risers from Steve Roby and added them to my collection of other parts. The result while overwhelming does provide a very comfortable riding position. It may look wild, but it works. I guess I should have bought a set of Helibars years ago, but then I wouldn't have had all of this fun changing stuff.

I like it. You should send the uppers to somebody this winter and get them powdercoated :o

Hey Steve,
If you are using a Storz or KB bar adaptor I have a setback plate you can have if it will help. It moves the bars back towards you about an inch.

Ever thought about trying some ape hangers on there?? :rotflmao:

Thanks Jim, but I've been making handlebar adapter plates since 05, it was one of the first things I did on shoodaben, right around the time I was doing kneesavers- steve

Riser on Riser with an adapter setback......ingenuity at it's finest. ;) Also like how you adapted a bracket to secure the throttle lock. Thanks for the illustrations.....
I've got the KB risers and would like to add a setback adapter, similiar to Jim's design, that will allow more handle bar options. Hadn't seen anything, until now, that would allow that type configuration. Steve, looking forward to seeing what you have in the kettle. 8)
You guys are great!!!

Thanks Silverado,
The little throttle lock bracket is made from a piece of aluminum road sign. I'm not sure who is still making
the 7/8" bar adaptors. The two most popular were the KB (Kevin Baker design) and the Storz adaptor.
Murph used to carry them so check with him to see if they are still available.

Thanks Jim, i'm about to place an order with Murph to replace my brake and clutch lines, so I'll check with him to see if the 7/8" KB adapters are still available.

When I bought my C-10, it had 1-1/4" risers under the stock bars. High enough but my oft broken wrists didn't like the sweep of the stock bars.
When I purchased the pile of stuff I have been slowly unloading in the Sale section, I scored another set of risers and a tubular bar adapter setup.
Went with the tubular bar adapter, one set of risers, and a set of Ninja 650 bars a co-worker was throwing away.
Same height, but less sweep made them the right choice, plus they were threaded for my Throttlemeister.
Oh, and I'm 5 ft 8, and weigh too damn much.
:D

Jim,
how much longer did you have to make your brake lines?
Did you have to change cables or anything else?

The only cable I had to buy was a longer choke cable from Murph, everything else I re-routed. Re-routed the throttle
cables down the right side of the frame. I went with the two line SS brake lines when I did the 4 pot brake mod to the front
I think they were 2" over.
I had to redo the clutch line a little also but I made it work.
