Charlie, what are you up to?
Are you having Cam problems?

Yep, I am on a road trip, 200 miles from the house it started ticking, I thought ex. leak. 400 miles down the road it was louder. stoped in NC. and ran the valves, bad intake cam. F**k it, got about 2600 ticking miles on it now, and will ride it home!
Any one between Maine and Florida got a cheap cam and rockers ? I will pick it up !
FYI bike has 32k

I just fixed one like that 2 weeks ago, a rocker had failed and had a 1/2 moon worn into it. Bike was noisy, but still ran... Good luck on the trip - steve

Charlie, my first thought is, when you get back to Florida, get with Steve and install a set of his Torque cams.
(Or his Power cam if he still has a set)
Or, get back to us here. Someone will have cams.
Whatever you do, let us know you made it home safely!!!

Can't complain about used part prices for these bikes !

Gents:
I'm new to this list, been spending most of my Konk time on COG at micapeak. I've had my 86 for about 20 years so I've been through most of the C-10 issues once or twice. I don't know the players here, but just stumbled into this post while looking for ways to upgrade the C-10.
But, has anyone mentioned "cam chain tensioner" to address mach1's valve ticking? 32K could put it right in the mix as far as the C-10 goes. It seems a little early for bad cams and apparently the C-10 cams can look really bad and it doesn't reflect in terms of performance or sound. Whereas the old "ticking valves" issue can be solved by pushing up a tired cam chain tensioner while the engine is COLD or getting a new one . . . to take the slack out of the cam chain. It's the idea of the easy way or the hard way, or the way that addresses the issue way . . . ?????

Thanks for you response eep. I will check the chain adj.

If you like power below 5000 rpm, you're not gonna like those cams. I messed with them for years, and the connie will be slower in everyday accelleration with the zx cams. lot'sa fun over 7000 though! Steve

e.e.p. are you a member of the club?
Don't see a name and don't recognize your sig.
If your not and have had a Connie for 20 years,,, come ride with us!
You'll like this crowd!!
