Someone suggested I turn the tire thread I started into a poll. I started one. I know there are other options on tires & if I need to add an option let me know & I will...if I can. :o
-
In fairness, most of us probably have not run all the tires in the poll, but I voted for the PR2 in the '55 size. I've run the PR2-'55 as well, and the stock tire. The '55 is fantastic, and it's a very noticeable improvement over the '50 to me.
-
Agreed. I should have asked what tire may be your next tire purchase.
-
180/55 PR3!
-
180/55 Bridgestone 023 rear and 023 front
-
I've run the Stones, PR2 50's, and Avon Storm II's... now running Angel ST 50's, which are my faves so far. I guess I'll try the PR3 55's next.
-
I voted for the Angel /50s, but only because I havent run the 55s-yet. I have run the old Stradas, wore em out, tried the PR2s (50s) based on forum recomendation, didnt hate em like the stones, but not near as confidence inspiring as the Stadas, the Angels have performed the best for me and all of my riding styles, commute, mountain twisties, track time, range time, and 2 up. I hear we have a dry rain here in WA State, so I guess my not wet riding doesnt count ;D But, I will say they really work good on the moist stuff.

I recall a promise to try out a set of Angels if they made a 55? You'll be converted, I'm confident.

Yea and coming from someone else that leans to the limit thats a powerful statement. Last set of tires I bought the PR3's in the 55's (tires that turn) was because they were easier to get. Now I see the PR3 55's are sold out everywhere.
My next set I hope are the Angels, I really want to try a set now that they make 55. Really doubt I'll be "sold" though, perhaps maybe a tie of doesn't matter which tires?
I can't beleive the PR3's performance, I'd do track days on those tires in a heartbeat they're so sticky!

So far the PR3's are the best on wear for me. How do them make them sticky and wear well at the same time? Maybe KIPASS is helping them somehow.

I got 4000 miles out of my stockers and I replaced them with some used stockers that I picked up cheap, so I have nothing to compare them to.

I love tire threads...

+1 me toooooooooo, almost as much as oil threads (http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j180/stevewfl/bigthumb.gif)

I have used pr2's and will probably get some 3's soon, but I am pretty happy with Dunlop Road Smarts for tread life/sticky combo.
-
Shinko Raven rear and Michilen Pilot Road (no 2 no 3) will be my next purchase. The PR2 gives slightly better value than the Shinko due to the longer life but I just don't want to cope with the poor grip and handling any more so its back to the Raven. The Raven front has lasted well and outhandles the PR2, equal to the Angel, but it cupped badly by about 10,000. Still 2mm left at center tread with 11,333. I have been getting 16, 17 thousand miles with the Pilot Road classic (no 2 no 3) on my VFR so I will give it try on the C14.

stevewfl, I can't keep up. I love the PR2 55's. Now I have to love something else. Oh well, keep the info coming.

PR3s, that is until the PR4 or something better comes along. ;D

Metzeler Z8 Interact with a 190/55 rear. Love em.

My Angels arrived today. I'll get them mounted Saturday & scuff 'em up on Monday. I can't wait.

I'd love for you to give more info on the Metzler's when you wear them out. I've had Metzler ME880s in the past on a cruiser & I thought they were the best tires around. I got 18,000 miles out of a set one time.
-
Angels here, on original size. Second set coming to an end, after 6000 miles (the most I've got from any tire). High speed does a salad off a good tire.
-
My first tires were PR2(good)...never felt totally confident in the dry , even less in the rain.
Trip to the Dragon in May...SHINKO 011 VERGE (awesome) ride up and (awesome) grip and feel on DRAGON and highway
Big hole in rear Verge 11 (750 miles) Still on vacation at Dragon and three car tire plugs would not fill the hole
All tire place had was PR3. PR3 (great) but not awesome... Not quite the grip or feel of Shinko but much better than PR2.
These are my findings and I am sticking to the SHINKOS. Your opinion will probably be very different.
-
PR2 190/50, Shinko 190/50 and PR2 190/55 (I am on my second one). I will stick with the PR2 in a 190/55 until I find the PR3 on sale.
