Title: metal noise when starting (Cam Chain?)
Post by: harryzgnilek on August 28, 2011, 02:30:03 PM
Hi all

I just bought a new Concour1400 2011
After my first maintenance at 600miles (done by the dealer)
I noticed a metal sounding noise when I started the bike. IT only lasts a second then goes away.
It will only happen when I haven't started my bike for over 12 hours.
If I start and stop it during the day there is no noise.
Please help!!!
the oil the dealer used was 10w40...
any idea? is it bad for the bike?

thank you

Mine has had the same sound from day one, it takes a second for it to start oiling. The 10W-40 is fine, when I change my oil it will make noise for about three seconds until it picks up the new oil.

I don't beleive you have any kind of problem.......but just one opinion.

Thanks guys.  I was just about to ask the same question.  It's kind of a braaaaak sound for just a second.  And yes, its worse on the sidestand.  What a machine!!  Still smile every time I ride.
