My rear bottomed out on me last night on my way home from work. had to get the bike flatbeded home. lof it's current leaning aganst a mattress along the side on the house carport. Was told that the shock might not be bad but that the hose or valve might be. Here's hoping.

Sounds like a good excuse to upgrade. I bought a Progressive shock from Murph, and it's a real nice change to try a shock designed and built in this century :)
-
three different shops said there was no replacement for the shock. Then I look at murphkits. :-)
-
That might cost a good amount of dollars for a new progressive rear shock. Some of the gents use to replace the rear shock with a used shock out of the Kawasaki ZZR1200, with good results.

The progressive from murph's is 377. The shops are saying 800 for a kaw one.

How about a used stock shock for $25 + shipping?
-
George, I would be all over that deal if I needed a shock. $800.00 is highway robbery. Even the one from Murph will make you swallow kind of hard.

ever hear of E-Bay?

:o That's a heck of a deal.
Even if you're just talking about a ZZR1200 shock. ;D

Well the shock is fine. In the light of day it was the welds on the link rods that failed. seems when the PO had the bike lowered the person she had do the welding didn't do a good enough job. At least according to my folks. Well at least I'll be able to get a centerstand back on. Any spare ones lying around? :D :D

Replaced both link roReally like the difference. ds with associated bearings and seals. raised the bike back up to original height. I actually like the ride better now. Just bought a cenerstand and will be putting it on this weekend Nobody can believe I how I didn't crash, including me.
