Do I really have to pay $50 for having a 90 degree valve stem?? See link.

Or can I just buy the cheap-o 90 degree valve stem like this (I know this one is for older Concours, but can I still use it on C14)?? See link.

Not if you want to keep your TPM sensors. The C14 style acts as a nut for the threaded sleeve / tube that holds the sensor in place.

I'm a cheap ass so I went a different route. found some $10 screw on 90 degree valve stems. I just keep them in the tire fix kit and just screw one on when I need air then unscrew it and done,,,,did I mention $10 on ebay

So this means there's no possible way that a 90 degree valve stem would work with the TPS right?

No, it means if you want to replace the valve stem with a standard non-TPMS valve stem, you don't get to keep the TPMS. The one that Murph sells replaces the upper half of the valve stem assembly with a 90 degree part.
The ones shown in the eBay link simply replace your existing valve cap, and thread onto the stock valve stem. Other than their height and additional weight (may require wheel re-balancing), they should work just fine.
When I installed the Murph style, I had to add several ounces of weight to the opposite side of the wheel. It could have been the new tire I installed at the same time, but I don't think so.

$50 bucks for the tpms type for replacement seems a lot. I will go with the cheaper the version.

LDL is based in France which explains a little about the price, but, the bottom line is, these are the only units on the market designed to work with that $160 sensor in your wheel ( that I'm aware of) if not, hey they are OEM stuff for said sensor. If you want to twist one of those $10 units on to get air in your tire and then take it off, thats great. HOWEVER, I wouldn't recommend leaveing it on the tire. They put a surprising load on the valve stem when your humming down the road

Those are freaky looking. Wouldn't 90 degree work better than 45? Also, I think they are not 45 degree but 135 degrees! (They are MORE than 90 degrees, not less) Do you plan on leaving those connected all the time? (Looks like they might could lead to leaking.)

My opinion is they look to put the end in an even more wonky position for fill and check, now, couple that with a second valve in the stem that can fail, and also another connection point when its screwed on, and it looks silly to me.
Silly, and prone to failure....
But then I have no issue filling my tires... with the oem units in place, go figure....

That all depends on your method of measuring the angle........ :stirpot:
I don't have any problems putting air in the rear wheel, now the front is a different story. The rotor can make it a little difficult and I have one of Murph's 90deg. valve stems in the front for that very reason. 8)

I think I have read here that the stems are not the most robust. I guess I would sooner push straight down to avoid damage. If I get the stems so they are down it isnt to hard to fill.

I haven't had any issues with the ones that Murph sold awhile back (90 degree) that worked with the TP sensors.

I just replaced mine with some nice 90 degree stems and ditched the Crappy TPS stuff after the batteries died. Ohh yeah i have to use a tire pressure gauge to check my air pressure. If you ride everyday like me you know if your tires are a few pounds low. Maybe mama Kaw could include more dashboard readouts on the "17 model? I personally don't think there is enough.. I want to know my current tire pressure not average at certain altitude and temperature? Maybe a heads -up Iphone display?

If you've ever picked up a nail on the road, and had the warning flash you prior to going onto a freeway or other hazardous location or long trip, you'd likely say the TPS was worth all that...
Both times I had the emergency warning, I was within a mile from home.... and could simply roll on back to the barn, plug the tire in comfort and use my compressor.... 5 minut delay, was priceless....

Yeah, I wouldn't call the system "crappy." It has a lot of nice advantages and is very convenient. For me, the only crappy part is that the battery can't be charged remotely through the stem or isn't external so it can't be replaced [by most people] without taking it in for expensive service through removal the tire, and that just seems stupid.
BTW- while the sensor batteries in my 2011 C14 started failing at a whopping 2 years and replaced at year 3, the sensors in my 2009 Infiniti G37S are still just dandy after over 7.5 years! (Perhaps I need to knock on wood or something).

On my most recent trip, I was on I-75 north of Knoxville TN and was scrolling through the display options out of boredom (all 6 of them woo hoo!) and saw 42 front, 35 rear and knew I had a problem even before I got the red light. . Hit the next exit and there was a dealership whose property adjoined the interstate, very lucky for me. I put a beef jerky plug in (myself, I just used their air, they would only mount a new tire, no thanks) and was on my way.
I find the TPMS quite handy.

The one Murph sells is a quality product, made to work with the TPS.
The cheapies can be used in an emergency.
BUT NOTE: I heard of someone using a cheapie and pushing side ways too hard.
Result was a broken TPS and a flat tire.
So, if you go with the cheapies,,, AWAYS support from the back when you add air.
