Ok I know this goes against the grain here, but does anyone make an exhaust that would be QUIETER then stock? I do a lot of long trips and anything I can do to make her more comfy would be a plus.
Thanks

???
Have you looked into the electric bikes? ::)
-
The stock exhaust is quiet.
-
Wow.....

Ha-ha-ha Bwaa-ha-ha
Quieter aftermarket exhaust?
You got to be kidding us !! Those guys don't make money creating quieter exhaust -- only louder. Who would buy one anyway? Someone who is practical, considerate, and law-abiding?
Right - there has got to be loads of riders like that.......
I hope you recognize severe sarcasm when you read it.... Many of us would like to have a better looking exhaust that is as quiet or quieter than the OEM bazooka canister.

It sounds like a sewing machine as it is. Granted, this is coming from a guy with a Leo Vince on his.
Though I may go back to the potato launcher for the very same reason you posted this thread. +...I rode slower when it was quieter.
-
Wow................for once I am "practically speechless". Seems that ear plugs or giving up motorcycling are your only 2 viable options. I can honestly "barely" even hear my Area P exhaust while doing highway/interstate runs....and yes my hearing is quite good.
-
I actually do not like loud exhausts myself. But the stock exhaust is one of the quietest I've ever heard on a motorcycle. I really can't hear it over road noise at normal cruise speed, so I quieter wouldn't do me any good. I like it the way it is.

I think the bike as a whole, sounds like the Jetson's family car.

I'd recommend buying up one or two of the hundreds of stock cans available (ask anybody here) and welding two of them together. Then just bolt it up.
If I had the time to dick around with Photoshop (at work, pretending to actually be worth my paycheck), I could provide a picture of that project . . .

I *hate* loud exhausts on ANY type of vehicle. IMHO being fast means being "SSSH"- silent, slick, stealthy, harmonious (I know, that is corny and I just made it up!!! :)
That said, I think the stock C14 exhaust is not loud at all. Hard to imagine something quieter on a large bike. Are you sure you are hearing exhaust noise and not wind, tire, or intake?
-
I guess I do not understand. I have a "loud" exhaust and at speed (+60) about all I hear is wind and a faint rumble. With cheap foam ear plugs or ear buds and the iPod all I hear is wind.

How can I make the stock exhaust bigger too... :-X

quieter......really, i have heard sewing machines louder than this bike.

I've heard Cap'n Bob say that KiPass makes the C-14 the quietest of any of the sport tourers. Or any motorcycle for that matter.
;D
