I saw a lot about this on the old forum... sigh.
Fishing for ideas. I'd like to find a better place for the lock. Maybe even add another one.
Thanks!
-
Do you have an aftermarket rack with backrest? I mounted mine on the support arms for the rack.

When I get back from work, I'll post my pic. But what I did was take off the locks on the bike and mounted them to a steel strip of and mount the strip to the unoccupied hole under the license plate light.

Pics are always a big help.
snarf, I do have a backrest and that's a good idea.
sas, did you say locks plural - I only have one. Another good idea. I always wondered what those holes were for. :)

I didn't do any measuring, but here is what I did.
1" x 13" x 1/8th piece of steel. Mount the kelmet locks on the ends and mount the steel behind the license plate.
I think I have $4 in this, and that is counti ng the spray paint for the steel.
Hope this helps.
Ride safe all.

Most frugal one you'll ever find:

Another place is at the rear. My bike came with these brackets, I think they are Larry Buck's, from Bucksport. Just some steel straps bent 90 degrees.

George, beautiful in its simplicity. I use it a lot. Thanks

I think this one might be more frugal.. I think it took about 2 mins. I call it the 2 min helmet mod.
Just re bolted into the existing holes in license bracket with longer bolts.

The PO moved mine to the front of the saddlebags. One on each side.

Anyone with Buck Sport's relocaters? How do you like them?
I have a set on order, but he seems to be incommunicado since I ordered 2 weeks ago today.

How about just using a helmet guardian!

Yet another one ...
$3 bar stock from Lowes, $5 worth of SS cap screws so you can't steal my helmet or TAG without a little work.
-
I think I got my license plate re-location kit from Murph. Really keeps it out of the way.
-
Super easy idea to try (its free also). If you have a FF helmet just fish your handle bar through the shield opening.
Slide the helmet down as far as it will go. Turn your handlebars to full lock and lock them. The helmet cant come back off because there is not enough room.
This is how I locked up my helmet on my wifes 250 Ninja

So where are you guys getting your second helmet lock?

I'm not real sure where yours went, I am pert sure they came stock with two locks.

I built some that mount and look like this. Two pieces of steel stock from Home Depot, one bend on each side and drill four holes. Pretty cheap and easy.

Well dang it all. Another PO track to contend with.
I looked on the right side and there it is (or isn't) - mounting holes for the other helmet lock. Geez, I thought the bike only came with one.
Can these helmet locks be rekeyed to match the others?
-
Oh wait a min.... I thought we were talking about locking helmets while we are wearing them. Your talking about locking them on the bike....Now I get it.
-
Can these helmet locks be rekeyed to match the others?
If someone today has two bikes, check to see if the same key fits the helmet locks and unlocks either bike's helmet lock. The glove box lock will open with just about any Concours key. I think they have only one tumbler inside. I have two bikes, if I remember when I get home, I'll check it. So, there's a possibility that any lock will work. I don't think there is a right and left, they are both the same (at least my '87 is).
And, I think they can be rekeyed also. You may have to work that chrome cover on the front off to do it.

I just used this method this weekend. Two 8 and 1/2" x 1" strips of steel.
