Title: Tire Pressure Sensor Battery
Post by: smc on April 19, 2020, 05:17:34 PM
I've read all the treads on the tire pressure sensors, watched youTube videos, and decided to try to replace the battery in my back tire's tire pressure sensor.   The dealership was quoting $210 for a new sensor and $90 labor plus an additional $65 for taking the tire off and putting the new one on that I had already purchased online.   $365 plus tax sounded a little (lot) high to replace a tire I already owned on the bike and put in a sensor that should have been made so you could replace the battery.

Here's the two videos I watched on youTube to figure out how to take off a tire and install a new battery.   If you have a soldering iron and tire spoons, your cost would be like mine, $2.50 for the battery plus $7 at Lowes to get a #5 Torx screw driver.   After doing this, I took the bike out and all worked great, no annoying flashing message, and tire pressure sensor worked.   Best of all, I didn't have to do what the dealership said, "You have to get a new sensor."

I don't think you can do that with the newer sensors..  Thanks for the vid!
