I'm bringing up an old subject. Has anyone come up with a decent hand guard lately. Seems the only one commercially available is from ProjektD. SSD no longer makes them and the link from the motax version is dead.
I'm currently trying to see if I can get information from SSD on his. I don't really care for the acrylic/lexan version like ProjektD has.
I did see the version Pope has but the RAM mount parts a big gaudy and not very cheap.
Any help is appreciated, Kevin in the cold north.

Haven't seen any others, no (there are a few home-made things out there, though).
Interestingly, it is an accessory I would never get. With decent gloves and the heated grips, my hands never get cold, even when riding in freezing temps. When riding in 40+F, I don't even use winter gloves. Of course, experience will vary with rider. But I will point out that I am pretty intolerant of temperature extremes.
It will depend on airflow. Gen2 has higher mirrors which is blocks more handlebar air.... BUT my bike counteracts that with the 2" risers, so go figure.

When I was using them they worked well. Kept the air off my hands when it was cold.

They seem to only sell side "wings", which appear to be meant for mid torso and legs? They are below the mirrors.

No, unless they've stopped making them. From what I recall, I had to call them to order them. They weren't on the website. I think I still have them somewhere. Don't know if they work with the Gen2s.

I do think I remember seeing some on Baker's website but they aren't there now. I'll try calling them today.

Baker does still make the hand wings. They just don't list them on thier website. The lady I spoke to did not know why they weren't up there but I was able to order a set ($79.99) yesterday. I prefer metal over acrylic but this saves me the work.

It does seem reasonably odd to be a mail-order business and not include a product on the website. The cost is $0 to put it on the site. How do they expect to ever sell any? Strange....

I really like the Baker hand wings for the first Gen. C-14. They work pretty well in winter and are outstanding in summer as they can be turned to direct air directly onto the rider. Guaranteed to reduce crotch temperatures at least 30 F on those hot, sunny days..... if you brought your crotch with you, of course.
They did design and sell a better hand wing for the Gen. 2 C-14 also, and it was a much better mounting system, using two bolts instead of the original's one mounting point. If they still make them, they would be my choice.

Yes, for the first gen(08-09). I had to call Baker but they do still have them.

Yes there was a bit of cutting. I Used some stuff paper to make a template first. They do work well. I was going to remove for warmer weather but never have.

The original Baker hand wings for the C-14 only had one mounting point and that was on the black fairing top cover, so it was not even a frame hole but one of those rubber plug mounts. The later versions used a pair of those same screws instead. The one- screw (Boys!) models were satisfactory in my experience although I do know some people broke the fairing cover trying to tighten them just a tad too much. They had an extremely fine line of 'tight enough' not to move and 'opps, cracked the fairing cover'. I believe the second generation cured all of that by using two mounting points.

Another option is the Barkbusters Universal-Fit Cold Weather Protection Handguards available from Twisted Throttle

Using these on a 2009 C-14 with heated grips and it seems to work well. Nice feature is that they are easily removable for summer riding.
The only caution is that the handguards block the mirrors on first generation Concours. Solved this problem by adding small auxiliary mirrors mounted on top of the existing mirrors. One thing to be aware of with them and also the reason I removed them. The well nut that it mounts to is supported by a plastic holder that WILL crack and deteriorate over time. I don't think it's the Air Wing per se, just crappy plastic as others on my bike have done the same thing. Unfortunately that plastic holder is attached to the dash plastic and would be very expensive to replace. I might just take the bike in and get it replaced under warranty. That's the ticket!

Perhaps the 2010 and up version are the two hole type. All I know is is ordered mine this month and got the single hole version.
I was able to ride yesterday after work when it was about 40 degrees out. The hand wings surely make a difference!

Thanks for the info. So I ordered the handguards from Projekt D. We'll see how long it takes. For now, the new-to-me bike is at the shop getting the flyectomy, PCV transplant from the old bike, seat swap and a few other things, plus the 12000 km service and all the fluids changed.
A bit off topic, but I'm loving the Pilot Road 3 that came with the bike.
Now how much was that Remus Hexacone Carbon?... ;D
