Title: Advance Sport Touring backrest v2
Post by: K0rnfl4k35 on April 27, 2016, 06:41:08 PM
So I received my AST backrest v2 in the mail the other day and it looks solid. I installed it and it only took a few minutes to put on the bike and it flows bery nicely with my bike. Today I looked at it and one of the screws on the backrest was loose like it wasnt connected to the nut in the pad. So i took it off the back and noticed that the nut was loose inside the pad and that the pad was only being held on by one bolt. This could of ended badly for whoever was riding on the back if I had not caught it. I have contacted them and I'm currently waiting for a reply. Has anyone else had experience with this backrest and or the AST customer service?

From what I'm seeing in this thread it looks like there are mixed reviews. I ordered risers from them and i received them quickly and they were really nice, they came with good detailed instructions so i figured that the backrest would be a similar experience.

Received a replacement back pad in the mail over the weekend. I was less than excited with the quality of the new pad. I have told them i want to return the entire thing. So far i have not heard anything back from him.

looking at the pictures of the first pad you received, I would have returned that one already. And the replacement is worse, you say? Oh, my...  :o
Good luck with this transaction. I'm nowhere near this vendor, and will never be.

as we have noted, that might not be the smartest thing to do..... best to get him on the phone first.....

we are warning you well in advance (no pun intended) that if you just send it back, you may be stewing for months before you get a refund, if you get one at all......

we have documented both here, and on the COG site, litterally a bazillion complaints, for lack of product delivery, or money refunds for non delivered items...

I received an email back from him yesterday saying "Once the product has been received, we'll refund you your purchase price.

On a side note.  We've sold thousands of these backrests without a single incident over the years.  If you choose to purchase a product in the future, email us first and we'll send you a coupon code for 10% off your purchase.

Ride safe."

I found it rude that he pretty much said that there is nothing wrong with his product and that it must be me.

thousands eh?
to be quite honest, you are the first person on this forum, or the other one for that matter, that has reported buying one of these...
and I've been on both forums for a lonnnnnng time

I may have a conversation with some members on the COG B.O.D. , and make mention of "maybe the fellow doesn't deserve to advertise in the Concourier" ... simply based on his business ethics....
his phone number, in our magazine, is listed as 248-672-7783  just so you have it... not saying he answers it tho...

Sent that package back and it arrived over the weekend and I have heard or received any emails saying that a refund is in process. So i just filed with the bank to get my money back that way.
