wow, amazing, never ever heard of this before... thank you so much for discovering this... where did you find this info?
-
Looks like he found it on utube and ebay. It's been around a while but thanks for the info.

Not a cruise control. Just a throttle lock. Using o-rings as a cheap throttle lock has been around forever. Have never tried it, myself, though.
-
You should try it, it really works great. Easy on easy off.

I might someday.... I have one of those neat clip-on type ones right now, but I rarely use it because I just feel too out of control.

Ive done this before but after a while the rubber on the end of the grip will wear down and not hold as well. I was counting on doing this for my ironbutt ride a couple years ago and it worked great...for the first couple hundred miles then start slipping and the last few hundred mile it wouldnt hold at all when i needed it the most.

I agree with Rich on this...old news for most of us, not that I would use an o-ring for a cruise control unless it was car tire sized. ::)

Remember old news for most but not ALL...

There are a few more results with further information on it. 'o-ring cruise' were the search terms I used and went from the oldest first and checked only the C14 boards.

sorry.
me feeble response in a humerous tongue in cheek fashion was lost in translation....
the Concours has been around since 1986, abut a day after it was introduced, the Cat O Ring throttle lock was brought to light...
been around for a while now,

Part # 8M4991.
I have one on mine, being a Cat employee, a Rostra or Audiovox just seemed traitorous.
Works great. On my old C10, I had an Audivox, did 1090 miles in a day on that. Utah speed limit was 80, set the cruise on 93. You can make pretty good time with the cruise set on 93. There is very little in Utah, with the exception of astounding scenery, which I highly recommend. I have been to Zion NP, Bryce NP, Capitol Reef NP, Cedar Breaks National Monument and also Highway 12 across the Grand Staircase National Monument. I really like Utah.
