I know nothing about these is a one owner with 37k....high miles?

It has New fork seals, fork oil and progressive fork springs just installed. New clutch star springs just installed also.

Looks real nice in the picture, older model, 93? Has a newer model seat.
37K miles is nothing for those motors, I'm at 59K with my 99 now and there are many ZG's out there with over 100K, and some still riding around with 200K+

From the pics it looks clean and well cared for.
Has a few extras I can spot:
- Rifle windshield
- Bar riser blocks
37K is not a lot of miles for one of these.
Make sure the body is in good shape:
- no cracks or missing pieces on the outside edge of the turn signals
- tabs to connect mid fairings to upper fairing and belly pan
- all fairing screws are there.
- make sure saddlebags are included (see one in the background but didn't want to assume)
Can you verify that the piston heights (in pairs) are identical (hydrolock test)?
To me, a one owner bike is a plus, especially if in nice condition. He probably has maintenance records on valve adjustments, oil changes, etc. (?)
Then if it runs and drives well, go for it.

In my opinion while that bike does indeed look very well cared for but..... Yes there is always a BUT.... I'd shy away from pre 98 models simply as the single piston front brakes are dated and weak, yes they will likely lock up the front wheel if you grab a handful and that's the problem is they lack feedback.... Also the front rim is narrow on these models making tire selection very limited at best.... For another 1K to 1.5K you can find well cared for bikes from the 20__ years....

You didn't mention where it's ( or you ) are located, but I'd be willing to bet that there's an experienced C10
codger rider near enough to you that he might accompany you along for another pr. of eyes to look at it.

I'm the proud owner of a 88 with almost 67K on it...also have a HD and already had more than 15 other bikes, this one is the only one that I will never sold...bought her 2 years ago with 40k and rebuilt it all... it's always ready to ride...my best bike ever :D

Why cant u put a manual in line on/off valve on fuel line...as long as it on OFF gas cant get into motor

Keep reading. That's only as good as your memory to shut it off EVERY time.
Seems a bit high $$ for the year, even though its in nice shape.

I think $1800 (or less) would buy it, but it all depends on location, local demand, condition, condition, condition. Miles are secondary, as these things go forever.

I sold my first one with 88,000 miles and it was running great, I sold my 2nd one with 94,000 miles, and it was running great. I had a 3 month old one that quit running at 12,000 miles. (I drove it into a farm truck at highway speed and it was totalled). The one I have now only has 52,000 on it. I adjusted the valves at 6000, 12,000, and 24,000. I pulled the valve cover at 48,000 and they were all still in spec. No magic juice, just regular oil and filter changes with good automotive/diesel rated oil. I always run a couple ounces of marvel mystery oil in a tank of gas. No rust in the tank, no corrosion in the carbs. If cared for, they last a long time.
I never had petcock issues. As part of maintenance I look for any leakage or stains. I also move the lever through the positions at least onece per tank. if I even THINK something is wrong, I buy a new factory unit and replace it. I have never replace two on the same bike. $70 is cheap insurance over that many miles.
An older bike with low mileage might have old tires on it. I would really inspect the tires before I took off for long or "spirited" rides.

I had a manual shutoff on mine & like jettawreck has posted, YOU'LL NEED TO REMEMBER TO DO THIS EVERY TIME!
It wasn't that big a deal for me, as I had to do it yrs. ago when I owned a TR6 Triumph. Just get into the routine & it becomes habit, kinda like doing the l-r-l traffic check when pulling away from a stop sign / traffic light... :finger_fing11:
p.s. a side benefit would be somewhat of a theft deterrent, as the thief would only get as far as the gas in the bowls would let him travel...maybe half a block... ::)

I now have a 86 Venture with just 19k on it runs great...i have a guy that want to buy it and then I can buy the Concours
I just dont know if I want to go from 19k miles to almost 40k over night

Considering that you've got a Venture what are you thinking you will gain by stepping into the Concours? Truthfully your Venture has a powerful and proven 1300 CC V4 motor and full on touring ergos. Chassis and suspension wise they are about equal as despite the C10 your looking at being a 93 even the 06 was not much more than warmed up 1980's tech.
If you have to sell one to buy the other then you really need to tell us why your considering the Concours over your Venture in the first place......

I suspected as much! Indeed despite being rather long in the tooth (86) the venerable Concours is still absolutely a head turner today....
I sold my girl last month as I've other interest these days but I still think that they are downright sexy....

I've already said I'd pass on any pre 98 model due the the upgrades they received at that point. And while that 93 looks super clean it is priced on the high end in my opinion; I'd consider 1500.00 but no more...
But 37K in miles is nothing to a well taken care of bike as long as you realize that it is still 22 years old.....

Had not even crossed my mind to ride it in over a year, we moved lakeside in TN and I get my kicks out on the water. And in my hot rodded electric golf cart that can do a solid 30 MPH in near complete silence...
Plus if the urge strikes I'll just buy/build another one....

Well those foot pegs kinda are OEM just adifferent OEM and era too... Cira 1980's from when BMW came out with the K100 bikes.... There was some recall on them and I pulled a shoebox full of them brand new out of the dumpster of a local shop... They were made of a deep soft rubber with a massive steel weight on the end and even a spring for quelling vibrations...

volmann, don't sell your comfy and powerful Venture. I bet it rides very nice.

Just for perspective, my C-10 has 224,xxx miles on it. Still runs out well. Compression check at 165k showed 185-190. This bike has benefited from performance upgrades from Shoodaben:

I do try to stay ahead of the game on maintenance.
It's a daily, year round rider.

I've owned a Venture and I own a Concours. Let me spell out the differences to ya. In comparison to the Venture, the Concours will feel to you like sitting on a rocket. You will be leaned way forward and your feet will be way up high. The ergonomics between the two are so far apart as to be almost night and day. If you enjoy the Venture's ride, you need to be ready for a completely different experience.
There is literally NO COMPARISON between the two as far as passenger comfort - the Venture is a touring bike, the Concours simply isn't in the same league. However, the Concours can go into leans that the Venture would never handle with a passenger, so there's that. My wife preferred the Venture, but has said that the Concours is more fun for short trips out to the twisties.
The Concours bike will be lighter, lighter feeling, and way more easy to push around with your legs and at slow speeds. It will appear to you as a much smaller bike. The transmission and engine are completely different - the venture was comfortable at much lower rpms than the Concours is - you will constantly feel like you're over revving the Concours until you get used to it.
The mileage issue is anon issue - both of these bikes will run forever if you take care of basic maintenance. However, in my personal experience, the Venture comes essentially complete and ready to ride, and the Concours requires modification to make it really great. Almost everyone here subscribes to moding the bike with Murphs stuff, shoodaben stuff, and more. So add several hundred $ to the cost of the bike if you're gonna buy it.
Now having said all of this, let me tell you that I really like my Concours and I don't miss my Venture all that much, but I'm a multi-bike kind of guy and will be buying a larger tourer soon (hopefully) to add to the stable because my wife and I simply don't enjoy long distances on the Concours, and my other bikes are old, small displacement bikes.

being retired I don't get to ride the concours very much as the wife don't like the ride and when I say I'm going for a ride she says I'm going but not on ole blue so we ride the RSTD and she's happy to ride all day. Thinking if I get a venture I can make the RSTD a solo bike.
