Need I say more?

Hell, this was on the Today Show this morning. Too bad they cut off the end of it, when the bikes finally separate. That's when it gets really funny.
-
Reading the subject line I got kind of angry. How can a motorcycle crash be best!? Well, after I saw this, I must say it is the funniest! No one got hurt (physically) and it was just hilarious to watch. I guess that might mean the best ;)
Thanks for posting it!
Cheers,
Pete

I just re-watched it. Can't figure out why the first guy crashed! He was straight up and down, on the brakes I assume, but didn't really look like he was especially hard on them and then . . . boom . . . he's sliding along and takes out the other guy.
Didn't see any oil on the track and none of the other riders that followed crashed.
I'm guessing terminal brain fade was the cause.
-
I thought the guy who was chasing the bike around was hilarious, and when he got all mad and threw his arms around then realized "Wait, I need to get/ back on my bike!" So he ran back over to his bike... That was so freaking hilarious!

Riders love to get self righteous when they go down on somebody else's mistake. Not like those gentlemen Nascar drivers who forgive and forget or get fined and probation.

Kawasaki Concours 2008 live crash in Chile HD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6TZAIERrEg#ws)I wonder if ABS would have helped this guy.
-
Oh man, do I know that feelling just as he hit that gravel in the road....a lot of the twisties we have here in the Bay Area are subject to gravel and debris falling down onto the roadways from the hillsides above...the pucker power is very strong in this vid for me....
-
Looks like he lost a side case or two. Wonder if Kawi will replace under warranty.. Somehow, I think not, though. Wow...sorry it happened to him. Was it anyone we knew and does anyone know the condition of the rider? As far as ABS goes, I don't think it would have helped at all. Traction control possibly but he was on an 08 bike.
-
Why in the heck are they taking off his boots????? folks in crisis do stupid things I suppose.......
More education to the non riding public....leave the helmets and boots alone!!!!! let the experts do that!!!!!
@Mini Cog....that was about as funny of a "crash" as I have ever seen thanks for sharing....!! (and I didn't need to hear it to enjoy!)
-
Is it an optical illusion that the guy taking the fall is actually accelerating away from the camera bike?
I've watched it over and over and it doesn't look like he's braking.
I watched it one last time and you can hear him accelerate.
-
Looks like he hits something on/in the road and then goes off the right side , tried to correct and can't because he accelerated too much...then he goes off the left..the acceleration looks like it may have been caused by the whatever in the road...
Maybe they are stealing his boots??? cause they sure go after them quick.....
-
I watched the video...twice actually. Then I thought about the 'acceleration' comments made in this post.
This is spooky- This very morning was the first morning I rode my bike (I ride it practically every day) since installing the throttle rocker on it last night.
This morning, I learned two things right off the bat-
1. That these throttle rockers take some getting used to, and
2. They really need to be positioned correctly to provide for safe throttle control.
I went back and looked at the video a third time, just to see if this guy had a throttle rocker on his bike.... INDEED HE DID !!!!
Further, it looks to me that it is CLEARLY positioned WAY too high. I put my Throttle rocker II on the bike last night, sat on the bike and thought, "that feels pretty good." I was excited to try it out on my 29 mile commute to work this morning. Guess what, right out of the driveway I determined that it was adjusted too high, meaning I was inadvertently grabbing throttle and didn't mean to. My thougth was, these firggen things are dangerous!!! I needed to stop for gas so I stopped at the first one and adjusted it to a lower position. I'll give it a try on the way home tonight.
So yes, I truly believe this guy DID grab throttle, especially once the pucker factor kicked into high gear when he hit the gravel and started to slide. -Seems it was all over after that...sucks to see that-
-
Very good observation! I both one few years back and I tried to use it few times, but I couldn't get used it and took it off.
-
It appears at one point that the guy picking up the bike actually has his thumb BELOW the rocker lever. I think this rocker may have contributed to this accident...and not in a good way.
-
it was road debris, not a bike problem. I did not pick up speed, just my friend slowed down as he saw me with problem.
Didn´t brake at all, because if you do the bike stands up and stops turning.
Anyway, I don´t remember anything from the accident...
I was going like 140 kms/h when lost the rear...
Harlizzzta 1 month ago ....just a broken left wrist
I wonder if ABS would have helped this guy.
I never saw his brake light come on, but maybe he hit the brakes in the dust cloud. He claims he didn't.
Maybe they are stealing his boots??? cause they sure go after them quick.....
Well it is in Chile so maybe.... :)
As to the original post, that was funny...when the guy walked away after the bike dancing was done, I assumed that he then noticed damage to his bike that finished his day and he got P.O.d.

We are all thankful that you were not hurt any worse.
I'm curious though, how long had you been using the throttle rocker (another brand is called the 'cramp buster')? I just put mine on last night and it was too high- I was applying throttle when just making simple turns- had to adjust mine lower.
-
No high-jack; I love my crampbuster. I could not imagine maintaining cruising speed without it. I do highly recommend removing them if you are riding the twisties though.
-
I use a cramp buster, cat o ring, and just ordered a go cruise. The cramp buster can be in the way, but I've gotten accustomed to it and feel good using it. Just rode the dragon on saturday. I can see it getting in the way if you're going down and your hand slips or something????
-
I never thought about the throttle rocker causing a problem like that.

I'm not sure who(m) you are asking, the crash guy in the video (Harlizzzta) is on YouTube but not on this forum (yet).
I personally do have an extra wide CrampBuster, and it is a great help on the highway. Whenever I come into town I spin it forward until
it is straight down, as I exit the other side of town I spin it more until it's back in a useful position. Before I started doing that, I did have some unintended
throttle activations that caught my attention, but none since. I also don't use it in the twisties. I'm starting to think that, for the connie,
the regular sized one might be safer than the extra wide one. Once I install my Rostra cruise control, the CrampBuster is going in the glove box.
