Puddles.

Yeah, pretty much that's it. :-[
For the cars, the best alloy wheel cleaner I've used is Armour All Wheel cleaner. Works fantastic and not corrosive to the clear coat.

Same soap I use to wash the bike. The key is a gentle soap. I buy the big purple bottle of whatever it is at Target. THen I mix say a quarter cup of it with water in my favorite spray bottle. Spray on the wheel and a gentle brush to scrub the scum off and rinse.

S100 and a brush. I just finished cleaning my front wheel and I think it may have been the first time it was clean since '08. Some people's kids....

I do when I get tire of handling them and my hands are absolutely filthy. I don't do it often, but from time to time.

Don't forget to armor all the treads to make them nice and shiny.
Especially the chicken strips.

Thank you!   I haven't really cared about a car since I got my first real motorcycle. My motorcycles are exceptionally well taken care of.

Don't do it G!      Big picture, it will be FAR cheaper to do it yourself!    :rotflmao:

Funny you should bring this up. I cleaned my wheels about a week ago for the first time in a couple of years. I was bored. Used some spray cleaner I had in the garage. Worked fine. Any of those cleaners will work.

Couple of things, if you wash your bike on a somewhat regular basis, you just use the same soap as you use on the bike, if you do this every time, then you don't have to resort to chemicals and drastic measures to try to get the brake dust and road grime of your wheels when you wash them once a year. Simply put, a little cleaning every week or so saves you tons of work down the road. As with anything, waxing will help you even more by preventing the majority of the dirt from sticking and making cleaning just that much easier and faster getting you back on the road quicker. But then again I view cleaning and washing as a sort of therapy, almost as good as riding.  ;D

I rarely wash my bike. Maybe a couple of times a years. Part of that is that I never ride in the rain. But we do get a lot of allergens and right now it is covered with yellow oak pollen. It will get washed, but when I don't know. We have a great chance for rain thru Monday morning. After that there is a chance of rain thru thurs.

Park it outside if it's going to rain.

OK, so even if you don't wash the bike, hose the wheels off and wipe them with a rag, that alone will keep the brake dust and grime somewhat at bay. Or, wipe the wheels with a wet rag, takes about 2 minutes on the center stand.
