Title: I sent my Corbin back for modifications
Post by: PH14 on March 30, 2015, 08:03:53 PM
I have two aftermarket seats, a Sargent and a Corbin. I won't rehash a lot of what I have written in the past about these in the past. I liked the Sargent, but it seemed to break down a bit over time, it is still comfortable, but not as good as it was when I first bought it. I have used Sargents on sport bikes and they were fantastic. I rode my RC51 long distance, Pittsburgh to Iowa in one day, 860 miles, and trips to Kentucky, 7 to 8 hours in a day. The Sargen was comfortable on that.

I decided to give the Corbin a try since I wanted the leather. The Sargent could get a bit hot at times. Initially I liked the Corbin, but the hump in the front hurt on long rides. The Corbin seems to be made for a much larger posterior that I possess. I have had larger posteriors in the past, but they were attached to women I was dating at the time.  :o

I talked to Corbin about sending it back, back, but had never actually sent it in. Keep in mind I have had this seat since 2011.  I finally sent it in last week. After discussing it with Corbin, they are replacing my foam with their softer foam, and filling in the dished area to make the seat a but flatter. Hopefully that will raise me up off the soft parts that were being tortured by the hum in the front, as well as giving me back some legroom that was lost with the Corbin. This is being done for the very fair price of, free, not including shipping.  I think they are being very fair. They offer free foam replacement, and this is what they are calling this. As long as they don't have to remake the cover, it is free. They have already told me my cover can be reused for this purpose.

Shipping isn't cheap, but it is a lot better that paying for a new seat, and I have had this seat for 3 1/2 years.

I am really looking forward to getting the seat back. I really wish I lived close enough to take it into the factory for a custom seat fitting. I do think however, that this will help the issues I have been experiencing with the seat. Pretty decent service if you ask me.

Good luck!!

I just got my seat from corbin...it was bought an paid for on 2/2, I was told 3-4 weeks for delivery...they must use some sort of Mayan calendar as today is 3/31. This wouldn't get under my skin but for the last 2 weeks when I called to ask when it would be completed I got the same lie "its being shipped tomorrow" Corbin will never see another dime from me and I had really wished I just sent my stock seat to Baldwin.
