Title: Extended Warranty Program Changes
Post by: datsaxman@hotmail.com on November 11, 2014, 01:25:21 AM
So...the folks at Ultimate Cycle said NO WAY.

My C14 is currently enjoying Extended Warranty coverage, which will expire in 7/2016.

AND CANNOT BE RENEWED AFTER THAT.

I have seen that question posed several times...but never saw a definite answer.

It took several calls and an email, but they finally called back with that news.

Now you know.  Gives me a little time to shop for a newer one at least.

[Moderator update: Original warranty can only be extended twice now]

What you are saying is that Kawasaki will not allow a third extended warranty?

Paying close attention to this because I want to extend my warranty beyond the 3 years...

Your bike must have a second extended warranty, is that correct?

My bike is on the second extended warranty also which will bring me to nine years of warranty coverage, which is not only excellent, it is the longest warranty available on any sport tourer or even tourer as far as I know.

Thanks for the info. on the [hoped for] third warranty extension. To be honest, I am not surprised as more than a few of these bikes are pushing up to and over 100,000 miles under full warranty which is really amazing I think.

You can extend it two times for a max. of three years each, or at least those of us who had early C-14's and wanted the extensions could. The stock bike's warranty is for three years, and extended twice for three years each brings the total to nine years.... which is really excellent I think.

I need to know exactly who you spoke with there, and when.
Once I have this info I'll call Pete.

I warned folks about the possibility this would occurr, but I need the specifics before calling.... I sure hope he didnt sell off the dealership.

Please let me know.

Update
I placed a call in to him, he  was out of office, I expect a callback tomorrow...
As of Oct 27th, his GTPP WAS still good, I'm thinking someone there is slipping up... before this gets out of hand, let me speak with him....

Please hold off on any negative commentary untill you hear from me, it would be counterproductive.

Thanks

I know it's been moved out on 60 west of Richmond towards Powhatan.  I've gone by it a few times.  Let's hope it's still good.  But if not, it's certainly had a good run..

Yeah, I spoke with him after the relo, but it was all good.... I left a voicemail, and will report back as soon as I get a call... noted above in updated post.

Extended the warranty three times? Plus the original three years, you are covered for 12 years from time of purchase?

I told you guys, when I last talked to Pete, he told me until Kaw stops the procedure, which he did not foresee happenin soon, you could reup and reup again, as soon as you got the paper... cut and dried... I wishtohell I had the money to have done that right when I became unemployed, so I could roll 2 more GTPP's onto my 3 ... I'm good thru 7/7/2016, but I wanted to have this bike covered forever, which WAS possible when I was posting this stuff last year...
Like I said, I warned y'all, go back and look....

And please, do not make bad commentary about this here, I am awaiting a phone call, and will report the result....

Pete has full access to read all this, I specifically told him to do so back when I worked  this out for all of you .... if someone undermined his kindness, and generosity towards our group, there is no place on this continent they can hide.... just saying.

I wouldn't know why anyone would complain, anyway.  That dealership has been nothing but fantastic with this program.  If they can no longer extend X number of times, that wouldn't be their fault, anyhow.... it would be a policy change or clarification from Kawasaki Inc.

Exactly right- this would not be denied at the dealer level but rather at Kawasaki USA.

I asked about extending the warranty again while I was extending it the second time and the gentleman at that dealer in VA that Rich set us up with did not know if it would be available again or not. He told me the only way he knew to find out was to try and buy a third extension and see if it went through on the mfg's end. This is what I assume the OP ran into- a simple case of a service not being offered for a third iteration.

But as Rich is going to check this out, I am sure he will clarify this up shortly.

And I do not think anyone was being critical of anyone either Rich: I know I am happy to have gotten the deal you set up in the first place. If it is no longer offered, I really cannot fault Kawasaki and it certainly is not any dealer's fault.

My comments were based on the subject of this posting that NO MORE extended warranty..etc... and the verbiage in the post with commentary of "NO WAY"... as I noted, I do not know the specifics, but since this was originally concieved, there have been numerous people that contacted me saing "they had problems" with it, and the only problems were, they didn't follow the directions.
That being said, I don't want a thread posted with something that isn't true, or believed as not being true, until the clarification has been made..

It puts me, and also Pete, in a position that is uncomfortable for all.
When I get a response from the o/p, and also from Pete, it will be posted.... let's just say, I've seen Pete fire someone on the spot, for not being upright at his dealership.... and untill ts explained, I can foresee another person possibly getting the axe.... if you get my drift.

I will also add, that after my last reup, when I took bike in for TPS repairs which were covered, the paperwork, and also the datascreen told the dealership here in Ohio I could have another extension, at KAW pricing, when I quaried the dealership to accommodate the Ultimate structure, the knob said "no way"... I blew him off, and told him flat out how much he could make/lose for 5 minutes of paperwork... heidnt care, his boss was never available, and within 6 months.... that dealer closed down. Very fitting.

Yes they are in Powhatan now. I bought my bike there at the end of July and also purchased the extended warranty at that time. I mentioned the group buy from the forum and they honored the price. I have to say that this dealership was an absolute pleasure to deal with. My salesman Stuart, had someone from their shop pick me up at the airport and bring me to their shop for the transaction. I then broke in my new bike on the Blue Ridge parkway. By the time I rolled into my driveway 7 days later, I had 2000 miles on the clock.

Alllll righty now...

I spoke with Pete today, talked for a long time... it seams as if Kaw has a NEW protection plan (GTPP Is No More..), and it is appliciable for 2 RE-UPS ONLY The original GTPP, could be upped as many times as you wanted, up till the new change. (that's why Jim, and some other's got 3 ups), Timing was all critical... Pete has no bearing on this, it's all KAW now,

I still have to ask that the title of this thread be changed, seriously, from "No More Extended Warranty" to something relevant to what is is, 2 extensions... that's all...
that was what got my panties in a wad, simply the wording...because it was not correct.

As far as Pete is concerned, he still offers the exact same price, and can take care of all new, and current protected folks, just as before, no change... all good, it's just you can only re-up twice.  this gives new owners 9 years of full covereage...you cant bitch about that.

He applogises about this all, but I know he isn't responsible. He still insists he will BEAT any price on a NEW C14 everyday...
He told me a price for one on the floor, and frankly I was shocked... HE DOES have the best price right now...

as for the stuff I asked Steve about, Pete is not who called you... I have been told this. Had it been him, he would have stood behind it.
(he also tells me that your bike is due for the second rear brake actuator rod retrofit...take it in and have it done, it's a factory recall, but also, Kawasaki shows YOUR bike being owned by someone else....Previous Owner?.. better fix that also  just saying, as he was looking you up in the system...while we talked)

Pete's Left hand Girl Kaylene is doing all the paperwork, I talked to her the day before, she is very nice, proper, and willing to assist in every way, just as Pete always was...
All in all, Ultimate Cycle has been beat down upon by Kaw, and every dealer across the nation, for offering what they have been doing for years, for OUR GROUP... and they are willing to continue, and supply, just as before... it behooves COG to patronize this concientious dealer, who stands above all across the USA, and "Does his thing".

soo, carry on. Extended Warrenties ARE available...

oh, he ordered an H2 for me, no charge, I'll be picking it up shortly......  Just kidding....  about the H2 only...

and most importantly, Ultimate Cycle thanks all of COG for thier devotion, and trust, and they will do all in thier power to maintain this level of trust and service to our group.     Get your dealer to make that commitment...any dealer, well, Beuhler? Beuhler...? ;)
