Hey guys, I'm trying to wire up my LED Driving lights and dimmer. The lights are easy for they connect to the dimmer. The instructions say to connect the red and black wires from the dimmer to the battery terminals but when I do that the lights power on. I need to connect the red wire to a wire that has power when the bike is running but not when the bike is powered off. Who out there knows of a wire I can connect the red wire to for power ONLY when the bike is powered on? The wire needs to be somewhere near the front of the bike...anyone know of one I can splice into?? Once I have that figured out my lighting project will be finished!
Thanks!

I would have to see a schematic or at the very least instructions to try and help. It <sounds> like the main power source is from the battery and a relay is triggered from a seperte connection- I believe this is what controls the function(s) of the light.
Can you scan or photograph the schematics? Or maybe point us toward the instructions / schematic if it is on- line? If so, I can probably help you out a bit here. Otherwise, I would just be guessing because I do not know how the lights function (relay? Hi / Lo function? ) and do not know how much current they draw. I can steer you to the headlight wires but again, without knowing how they work and what they draw would not be comfortable doing that.

Thanks Brian...I ended up going into the wires coming from the Aux Power Port and the lights work as expected!

Id be careful with that. May blow a fuze. Better to run a relay to the battery, that is controlled by the aux power circuit.

I got my power from the Grip warmers (2010). Works well. The added benefit of if the bike is sitting at idle for a few mins they turn off. Mine draw about 2A.

I wired in a relay last night and everything is up-and-running...lights are AWESOME!

Don't forget..... If there aren't pictures it didn't happen.
