Note the lack of evidence, no gun shot residue and the fact that the defense claims the perpetrator is still at large.

There was obviously not the "shadow of a doubt" needed there for the jury to convict.

Tragic case. And yes, sounds like there was reasonable doubt.

Yeah, you didn't know?
People get smoked in front of my house all the time. Wasn't me.

He got away with that one.

The other passengers in the car did it.   :-X

I have heard of too many wrecks involved in pushing a vehicle.  When I have had the occasion to move a disabled vehicle, I have done so with a look out for traffic.

The municipality I worked for many years ago had a garbage truck worker crushed between the truck and an car that ran into it.  They immediately went to side entry garbage collection and then automated arm collection.  We also had a young man who was pushing his disabled vehicle and got both legs severed by a car that ran into the back of the car he was pushing.

Agreed. What I meant to say is that the defense used "reasonable doubt" to get the acquittal.

Exactly. I said shadow of doubt which was obviously incorrect. (I drink in the morning).

If we used the "eye for an eye" analogy?  I have no use for impaired drivers and feel zero pity for them.  Karma works in strange ways and in this case swiftly.  At the very least the father would be guilty of temporary insanity.  Did he do it?  Likely, but it has been decided he was innocent of the crime he was charged with.  I think the jury came to the right conclusion (based solely on what I have read).  Both families will live with this for the rest of their lives, sadly the 2 children killed won't have that opportunity...

I think the word you meant to use was 'caliber', not karma. :-)

Anyone remember a few (well, a bunch) of years back when LEO's were escorting a guy back to where he was charged with child molestation? Outstanding video of them walking down the airport concourse (note the 'e'- no motorcycles involved here), the prisoner in shackles. They were just walking past a gentleman talking on a pay phone WHEN SUDDENLY, the guy on the phone dropped the phone, turned and dropped the "suspect" in his tracks. Then he dropped the pistol in his had and put both hands up and stood perfectly still. Of course it turned out that the gentleman on the phone / pistol was the molested kid's father. I do not remember how that case turned out legally though.

Society has become very permissive. Occasionally though, someone gets reminded that he / she cannot do 'that' and sometimes the reminders are harsh, as the 'that' that causes the reminder is often harsh in the first place.

The father of the molested child was found 'not guilty' as he should have been.
