I have a VStream on my bike, it's a decent shield and works well on the highway and in cooler weather. Yesterday I got a new helmet, an HJC FG17. It's noticeably quieter than my RF1100 (which was somewhat surprising). One thing I noticed is if I stood up on the pegs, I got a lot less wind noise than when sitting, regardless of the windshield position. Less turbulence as well.
That got me once again thinking about a short windshield for summer and the shorter day trips I tend to take.
I'd love that Copperdawg sport setup, but it's out of my budget right now.
I was looking at the Cee Bailey Mini Euro Sport- does anyone have any experience with this? How is it in relation to the older stock windshield that came on the pre-2010 bikes, height wise? They only show the height from the top set of mounting holes, at 12". The VStream is 17" from those same holes.
My other option is to try and find a used short screen from an 08/09 bike and then play around with cutting it down some if it doesn't cut down on the noise and give me enough air as it is.

I love my Euro Mini, I never even raise it since I got my new Neotec. The Neotec is so much quieter than my previous POS HJC helmet.

What model of Neotec, Gumby? Nevermind, it's a Shoei.

I'm using the Cal Sci tinted shorty, I believe it's a few inches shorter than the stock one.

I'd say your best option is cutting down a stocker (cost-effective, anyway).
I have a HJC FS-15 helmet, which is real quiet on my Monster, but quite noisy on my 14, even with the CalSci shorty (and earplugs). I bought a spare stock screen to really hack down and try, just haven't done it yet. Flipside is that with my CalSci large, it's a quiet ride again (because it blocks enough wind from my helmet), but sucks in the summer for heat (I don't recall the last time I even had the large screen on the bike).
It's all a really frustrating art to find that right configuration for you... your riding position, helmet choice, etc, etc...

I believe the stock 08-09 screen is a couple inches shorter than a CB mini-euro based on their web-site and a few inches narrower at the top. With it all the way down I get clean air on my helmet and lots of air on me. I'm 6'1" w 32" inseam. One can be had off one of the forums for about $50 too. All the way up there's buffeting on the helmet though. An adjustable airfoil helps that, but for something you just keep down all the time the 08-09 shield works well.

I cut a '08 stocker down 4", it works great for shorter trips when the weather is hot.

Awesome, thanks for the info everyone, and the links Maxtog- I did a search before I posted and came up short, but I was looking specifically for the Cal Sci shield, not the stocker.
Looks like I'm in the market for an 08 shield to play with!

My bike came with Cee Bailey shield and the owner threw the stock windshield into the back of my truck when I picked up the bike. It laid around in my garage for about a year until I decided that I wanted a summer windshield. So I cut it down with a dremel (use a jigsaw if you have one instead) and painted the back of it with Krylon Fusion paint. I use this windshield full time between June and September.
