I know this has been covered before, but thought I would add my results. I recently bought this C14 used, 2008. It came with 2' risers. I've been fooling with trying to get the seating comfortable, and thought to try the ergonomics without the risers. I was able to purchase the correct length 8mm allen bolts at the local ACE hardware. I am very satisfied with the results. The entire feel of the motorcycle has improved. It feels 50lb lighter, handles more to my liking, is more comfortable, and actually makes the seat I am now using feel more acceptable. I admit to not taking a 500 mile trip with this set up, but will soon do so. For the record, I am a bit tall, a few inches over six feet. I am also coming off of a VFR800. The position I now have on my Concours is a bit less extreme than the VFR, but very comfortable. I also pondered taking the 2" risers and cutting a couple of custom lengths on the band saw, say .5" and 1", to try if I get the urge. I know it won't suit everyone, but if you have not tried your C14 without risers it is an easy experiment to try .

I can tell you after lots of experimenting, the more upright you sit the worse the stock seat becomes. Hunching over to low bars helps keep your junk off the tank.

I added a 1-5/8" riser and love the new seating position...no more sore stiff back

Added my 2" (AST) pull back risers last night. Went for a 400km + trial run today! with the Canyon Cages and Rivco pegs it felt like I was in my recliner. Was able to sit at the back of the seat, now just need a back rest.

I prefer the stock height of the bars. With the stiffer full height Sargent seat the ride is just about perfect and I have done several 600 mile days, (13 hours) of backroads touring in a row.
The stock seat is good for around town and helps absorb minor road imperfections, but it crushes down over time and you feel like you are sitting on the pan. The Sargent starts at the stock seat height and stays there.
The seat, handlebar, footpeg positions were designed to work together. One you change one you might as well change them all.
You can put on a corbin seat, Helibar horizon ST, and footpeg lowering blocks and almost have the goldwing riding position if that is what you desire.
