Title: Guess what fell out of my pocket
Post by: lather on June 17, 2014, 05:40:47 PM
while I was mowing the lawn? I spent most of the day changing the fuel filter on my 08 and mowing my 3 acres with my Bad Boy ZTR. The C14 took priority of course but I was watching the clouds and getting some mowing down when it looked like it might rain. The filter replacement went well and I started mowing in earnest. I finished and as I was parking the Bad Boy I noticed my cell phone had fallen out of my pocket and was laying beside the seat. It couldn't go far because it was attached to my ear buds. The yard is pretty bumpy and the bumpy ride had worked the phone out of my right pocket. I recalled the FOB was in the left pocket- I quickly checked but nothing! :( Damn! I could see myself walking the 3 acres for the next couple hours :'(
Maybe not.

That there is some wicked good luck.

Go buy a lottery ticket and have a beer.

Yes I would say the lucky gods were with you considering what could have happened.

Indeed, very lucky!  Not only could you have lost it, you could have lost it and THEN MOWED IT!!

This is exactly why I try to always store my fob in the zippered pocket of my riding jacket.  It simply can't fall out or be misplaced, which would be a "disaster" when riding/tripping.  But when working on the bike, I am forced to deal with it separately (since I won't be using a riding jacket), and I have actually misplaced it a few times myself.

Yes, I do feel lucky. I bought a couple pair of shorts for running and working out, nice and cool but the pockets are way too shallow. I started the day with a run so that's what I was wearing. In the words of Neil Young: "why do I keep f&*#ing up?"

I leave mine in the glove box. Can't lose it that way. I keep so much other crap in there too, that you can't even see the fob. Sun glasses, spare ear plugs, registration, ink pen, air guage, USB port with cell phone cable...probably some other stuff I forget.

Anyhow, glad OP didn't mow over his!

You aren't alone...

You could have just pushed the bike around the yard, pressing the key down until you got it to work, then you't know you were close.  :finger_fing11:

That thought actually crossed my mind, veeerrry briefly.

LOL!  Now THAT is a truly creatively wacky solution

I'd like to see that happen if you lost it in the house. ;) ;)

I went for a ride one day, maybe 100 miles. Over a lot of railroad tracks where I come up off the seat. Got home, got off the bike, and sitting on the seat was my fob. I had left it on the seat and sat on it the whole ride. How it didn't bounce off when I was standing up over the RR tracks is beyond me.

Sometimes we just get lucky!

It's ok if it's on the first floor assuming that goes out to the street.  The second floor or the basement would be a bit dicey, though.

My riding lawn mower pulls wheelies like a top fuel dragster when I accidentally cut grass with the FOB in my pocket. The mad pow-ah of KiPass can be borderline dangerous at times (http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j180/stevewfl/avatars/lol8.gif)
