Title: 'Lectric Bikes
Post by: Furbo on June 01, 2014, 05:16:08 AM
This pretty much sums up my attitude on the subject.

Tired of seeing them all the time in the rags...

...but...but...their intentions are so good, and...and they doing so much for the environment. It's for the greater good. We must all sacrifice if we are going to save the world. Yes.. that's it...shared sacrifice.  8)

I wouldn't mind getting on the bandwagon if the range was about 200 miles and I could recharge it in 5 minutes and the charging facilities were at every gas station....other than that, I don't think so.  Oh, and it would have to have some freaky noise generator to make it sound like a train, tank, jet plane, muscle car, etc.....

I don't think electrics will ever have the range or be as pervasive as current gas technology.  I think that they're a fad until the fuel cell (hydrogen) vehicles come on line.  What is interesting to me is that we're in an age where gas is becoming dear and all sorts of different alternatives are coming out of the woodwork.

As far as my Weed Eater string trimmer (gas powered) goes, I'm getting ready to chuck it and buy a battery powered unit.  I'm tired of dicking around with carbs and the crappy fuel we have.  Just rebuilt the POS and it still doesn't work.   :censored:

Oh, I can move this to Open if you want.  I think it's a good subject to have everyone in on it.  Might even get a bit tesly...

Electric motorcycles are the future.  As battery technology improves, distance on the bikes improve, and costs decrease we'll see more and more of them.  They are already on the road and motocross race tracks.  I say wake up, the future is near.

With all that being said though, I hate them  ;D

Don't forget if the Tesla's battery goes dead (completely dead) the only way to fix it is have the company come and get your car. Piggy back it to the factory, put in a new battery and return it to you.  No big deal if you don't mind paying $67,000 for a battery!!!!

Yes,  that is the flat rate charge for a new battery in a Tesla.   Not too good a deal.

They'd make a great commuting vehicle if your employer would let you plug it in at work.  (Still don't think the cost of the bike would justify the free "fuel", though)

For how some people ride, (like bar-hopping, or short RTEs, etc.) electric bikes would be fine.  But they're never going to work for how some of us use them to travel.

bwaaahaaaaaaaaaa

I'm suchaprick that I removed the "noise-maker" features from the neighbor kid's Big Wheel.... not once, but every new one they bought...
(3 total in one year).... you might ask why 3...?
Because i waited till they left one in my driveway, under my bedroom window, and strangely they ended up getting run over by my truck...
no children were damaged...

Are you guys serious, or closeminded to new technologies, or what? I'll play devil's advocate even though I'm not a fan-boi of electric  ;D

These Brammo's sell in Tampa well.  Over 100 MPH.  The future is close, give it a few years and batteries will last forever, and cost little to replace.

Buy them here: http://eurocyclesoftampabay.reachlocal.com/?scid=2840086&kw=2667897:22071&pub_cr_id=26365895965 (http://eurocyclesoftampabay.reachlocal.com/?scid=2840086&kw=2667897:22071&pub_cr_id=26365895965)

If it's not fusion powered, it's a toy.

In my race boat I use these small, small, little batteries from System 123 , It's hard to believe , the pack the size of my fist can spin a 2.5 L motor with over 300psi compression over wildly fast, yes we spin the stock starter with 24v vs. 12v but It's far Fuk'n out .
With in ten years everything WILL change.
