Pretty good show, we watch it every week. But it doesn't make the citizens of Minnesota look very smart, lol.

Lots of murders and lots of craziness going on.  It's basically a one off series that runs one season.  Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman star in it.  BB is some sort of enforcer for someone named Fargo and the story concerns a small town in MN.  They say it's true but I don't believe it.  It's a very dark comedy as far as I'm concerned.  BB does some things that are literally hilarious.  I'm not sure how close to the movie Fargo it is.  I haven't seen that one in years.  At any rate it sucks you in just like SOA and American Horror Story.

It looks like there are only going to be ten episodes.... ever. If so, it will be more like a long movie than a TV series. That might not be so bad either 'cause it will have a beginning, middle and end, unlike most series which end up wandering around rather aimlessly after a season or two. Except for the bad ones that wander from the beginning.

Aw Jeez

Did anyone notice where the money the guy found in the snow came from??

No, where did it come from?  I'm thinking from heaven, but I could be wrong.
Title: Re: Anyone watching Fargo on FX?

The movie. They left it behind when they were making the movie and picked it up during the series.

Not sure what the source of the money is in the series- it could not be ransom money for Lester's wife 'cause Lester's wife was not ransomed in the series. But I think we're gonna' find out....

Wow...I need to go back and watch the movie again.

Yeah, that case full of money was the entire anchor point for the movie. The first time I saw the movie I don't think I could gag my way through it to the end. But then after seeing a few shorter pieces of it over time, I watched it again and really got to appreciate it. Once I got through the unusual speech patterns, the actual movie is excellent really.... at least IMO of course.

Hey- Fargo trivia time! There were two stars in Saving Private Ryan that also star in Fargo, one in the movie and the other one in the current series. Who are they?

Brian

Wow...I need to go back and watch the movie again.

Well since he had just prayed for help, I think we are supposed to think (as did he) that it was heaven sent. I suspect that since it was a flashback, that we will see where it came from in a future flashback (oxymoron?) and that it most likely is tied to some unrelated past work of either Lorne Malvo or Mr. Numbers (actor Goldberg {answer 1 of 2, was also in Saving Private Ryan}). Perhaps we'll even see if it is tied to that human foot in the toaster oven that Lorne referred to, that'd be interesting, eh? Ya betcha, for sure.

I saw it here at work for the first time when the younglings had it on. Funny. I'll watch again when I can.

If you subscribe to Netflix, you can stream it.  Amazon Prime as well.

Yep, that's the one in the series. One left that was in the movie (Fargo).

Jim, you should know by now that other than a few magazines, NRA and COG I don't subscribe to anything, especially something that gives money to actors or Hollywood. ;D

I don't mind paying actors in Hollywood their due and the Man in between.  I'm an addict to theatrics...sigh.  After going about a quarter of the way through 'Fargo' (the movie), the similarities are, well, quite amazing.  I actually felt faint when the trooper was shot.  Didn't go away for awhile...or it could be I'm having a stroke or a heart attack.  Thought I really was going to faint there for a bit.  I don't remember feeling that when we saw the movie many years ago..  Have just now reached the point where the pregnant cop is at the scene of where the two hoods shot the witnesses.

Hey Jim, you sure you were watching Fargo? Could it have been Sophie's Choice or Terms of Endearment or something like that? Or maybe even Cliffhanger? Fargo isn't really too much of a 'make you feel faint' kinda' movie.....

Jim, you should know by now that other than a few magazines, NRA and COG, and the firm belief that my brother- in- law is an idiot I don't subscribe to anything, especially something that gives money to actors or Hollywood. ;D

Hey now. ;D I'm giving him a breather as they had some bad weather Monday night. But, he may be an idiot, but he's MY idiot brother-in-law that just happened to score low on the fire test and only I reserve the right to call him that. ;D

Now I understand....not about your brother-in-law, but the money....   Just got to the part where he buried it.  Yes, it's taken me awhile to get there.  Got side tracked by Ender's Game and Oblivion.

Now just you wait one minute: for years, we have listened to you drone on about your brother- in- law. At least some of us have believed you and come to expect him to be.... well, an idiot. Now you can't pull the rug out from under us by saying he is only 'your' idiot; it is sorta like doing all the work in the young Pioneers, learning the 'party line', drinking the proverbial Kool Aid only to have the U.S.S.R. collapse and then holding free elections! We can't make turns that fast.

So if you want to do a change- up, you're going to have to work on it for a while and ease us into it. Until then, your brother- in- law is still an idiot, bad weather or not.

<chuckle>

OK, OK, the prerequisite week long period where I have a bit of empathy is now over and I can say with full certainty that all of you here can indeed call my brother-in-law an idiot because its not a bad thing to tell the truth. ;D My wife's aunt died 3 weeks ago without anyone telling us she had passed so I expect a phone call from somebody soon, which will just prove my assertion that they all are whacked beyond words and that I will continue taking the high road concerning family politics, well, commenting here doesn't count right?

I'm bummed.  Deputy Molly Solverson was shot by Tom Hanks kid, Colin....by mistake in a snowstorm....like that is any excuse.  I'm hoping it just knocked her out or it's minor wound.  Really like her character and the actress portraying her.

I'm in full agreement with you. Hopefully she's wearing a vest. I don't think there was any blood. She may have been shot by the deaf guy and just collapsed about the time Gus Grimly shot (and missed) in her general direction. He seems the type to miss more than hit a target, but I'll admit I'm usually wrong in trying to predict what the writers are going to do. Of course if this whole thing is really based on a true story (?) then I guess we could research it and find out what's going to happen next. I'll pass on that option.

I think I need to stop reading this thread if everyone plans to talk about what happened in the last opisode. Luckily we are caught up, but we usually aren't.

I understand, but there wouldn't be much else to talk about here would there? Just don't read until after you are all caught up, but don't quit reading altogether. One of us (won't be me) will eventually say something important here and you'll out miss out on it.  (Yeah, aren't I the optimist.  :P)

Yeah, I have not seen the latest episode either but that is not so bad, I can tell my wife that I feel an omen that certain things will happen in this week's episode. Sort of like Bill Murry guessing the answers to Jeopardy in Groundhog Day before they were even asked. :-)

I do like this series though.

Is this thing even going to go on after this year? I mean if it is based on a true story, doesn't that mean that they have to have a schedule as to what happens and when it happens as the series progresses? In other words, they can't just extend the series if the ratings are good because like a movie, it will have come to the end. ??

All true, and besides that, how would everyone know when it was OK to talk about which episode? Would we have to have a chart that everyone checks off that he / she has seen the last show?

Mr. Numbers got whacked as well.  Based on the wounds I sincerely think that he won't recover.  I kinda liked him....too bad.
