I would like help finding instructions for saving windshield positions in the manual. Thanks.
-
There is no option to save the current position, however in the setup menu on the display, you can set the position that will it will be set to when you turn on the key. It's 1 thru 5 I believe.
Just cycle thru the options on the setup screen to find it.

Thanks. I found it. I am always amazed at the lack of table of contents. For some reason that setting was lost when changing battery.
-
dumb question, how do you access the setup screen?
-
To access the setup you push and hold the odometer button and the button below it.
After holding for a couple seconds it will enter the setup menu.
One button will then cycle the selection and the position of the cursor.
It takes a couple tries to get it in the right order.

Yep, when you change the battery it will lose that, and the clock, and both trip meters, and several other things.
And the "memory on start" for the windscreen is only on 2nd gen C14's (you don't list in your signature or Avatar what color or year or gen bike you have... but I will assume it is 2nd gen)

It's annoying the extents the manufacturers go to in order to save some pennies. A capacitor would have enough juice to power those things for some time, I'm sure.

Indeed. And it is nothing new. I have had devices from 25 years ago that would remember settings for 10 to 60 seconds. Nowadays, they could just use flash memory or static RAM, which is 1000 times cheaper than just 10 years ago... they would only need a few hundred bytes... maybe half a dollar?

If it really bothers you, a couple of jumper wires and a nine volt battery will fix it while you change the battery.
