Title: Group buy McCruise
Post by: Cuda on March 06, 2014, 06:19:29 AM
I'm not sure how to put this together because of the shipping issue , but McCruise said they would give us a 5% discount on a group buy, which works out to about $44.00 off $880.00 which works out to $905 shipped to you door,   they did not say we had to buy X #s for the buy.
Below is a reply from them on the shipping , the US dollar has gone up a little since this quote so the shipping perperson , would be just under $70.00  .
I've tried the O ring , I want the real thing made to take wet weather and no plastic covers for the controls,  so here are my replys from McCruse, If you have a friend you could save a little on shipping.
Thank You
Jim Jesella

Shipping for one kit is A$77.40 (about US$70 at the current exchange rate).  Two kits will cost A$106.70, about A$54 per unit, three kits is A$136.00 and so on.

Shipping higher numbers can reduce shipping costs, BUT if the value of the entire shipment goes over US$2000 you will have to pay US customs clearance fees, which I believe can be about US$100 per shipment.  Might be worthwhile contacting US customs to find out how much this really is and if it is a fixed fee or based on the value of the goods coming in).  There is no import duty or taxes on our goods coming in.  This can either limit the savings of shipping buy limiting you to 2 units per shipment if you want to avoid customs clearance fees, or you can look at importing several units and amortising the clearance fees across several units.  This will take some research on your part.

We would also have to take out insurance on a large shipment.  We have insurance for shipments of one or two units, but larger shipments would require additional insurance.

The Rostra is a car cruise control and is not designed or intended for use on Motorcycles.  If you contact Rostra they will tell you that the unit is not designed for a motorcycle environment, either physical environment or electric.  Our unit is designed specifically for motorcycles and is specifically setup for the model you are buying (Z1400GTR) in every way from mounting brackets to wiring harness to calibration of the cruise control for the bike.  Our safety record is impeccable, do a search for ‘unintended acceleration’ on the web, you will find that automotive cruise controls safety records are anything but impeccable.

The instructions tell you how to fit the cruise with photos of every step of the installation.

We have thousands of customers how think our cruise is the best value accessory they have ever fitted to a bike, including some who have fitted and used Rostra type units.  I have not ridden a bike using the Rostra system or similar.  I can tell you that our earlier cruise systems (prior to 2002) used car cruise components, and we made a lot of safety and performance related mods to make them safe and usable on bikes.  Our current cruise control is far superior in every way to these earlier models.

Not much else I can say.  The choice is yours.

Best Regards,

Frank Guymer

I would keep it simple and do single buys unless you know someone close by that want to buy with you to save very little on shipping.
I would call it the COG buy , I still have to e mail them and tell them It's a go , so don't e mail  them yet. JJ

If we could just get a count on how many want to get one , we might be able to get a little more off.
